Happy New Year Everyone!

This has been one busy holiday. I have worked all week and have spent a good deal of time with my Mom who has been visiting for the holidays. I have had very little time to stitch. Last night we did all gather at Henley's Landing for an evening of stitching and and sisterhood laughs and enjoyment.
One of our dear sisters has a very sick husband and she was able to join us with her daughter-in-law for the evening it was good to have her with us. Our prayers are with them in this journey.
Tonight steve, my Mom and I had a great evening, we treated ourselves to a great meal. French onion soup, filet mignon, shrimp, baked potato and asparagus. Lots of wine of course. We had lots of laughs. Now we are in our pj's and are ready to ring in the New Year with Dick Clarke.
Happy New Year everyone!

Stitching calms the soul

Yesterday was a nice quiet day, for the most part my Mom and I sat and took it easy. My Mom is knitting a scarf for my daughter Sarah. My good friend Jayne gave her some wool and she has used it all. I took my time and spent it cross stiting Evangeline. She is starting to take shape. I will post a photo soon.
Tonight Deb and Chan, our good friends from London came for dinner, they brought their two bassets Gabby and Dorothy (she is from Kansas) How cute is that??? We had a great time as usual. We always look forward to spending time with our oldest and dearest friends.
Tomorrow I have to go to a funeral, my son-in-law's Aunt passed away suddenly. It is very sad for the family.
Tomorrow is another work day, so I had better sign off and hit the hay!

We have made it through another Christmas!

Today is going to be a kick back and take it easy day. Stitching is going to be the main stay of my day. Our Christmas was wonderful as usual. My Mom was here as were my two beautiful daughters and their families. I have two great son-in-laws and three grandaughters and one grandson. They range in ages from thirteen to five, what fun we had opening all the gifts this year. As far as we can tell only two gifts are missing in action 2 pairs of Olympic mitts. I am sure they will turn up some time.
Yesterday Steve and I went for brunch with some good friends what a good time we had. Lots of laughs and great seafood! It is always so nice to have such good friends.
Tomorrow I have to go back to work but our good friends D & C are coming for dinner so that will make for a great time.
But for today it is a take it easy day with lots of stitching and maybe a glass or two of wine!
Happy holidays everyone!

One more sleep!

One more sleep that is all we have. Yesterday was a very busy day for me. I work in a cash office/general office of a large retail store, yes there was a lot of money to count. I started at 7:00 in the morning and I finished at 6:00. I was pooped! I came home had a bowl of soup and that was it for me.
Sorry Jayne that I did not make the stitching gathering but I was in bed by 8:30. Today going to be a very busy day. I still have a few parcels to wrap, some final cooking, the trifle has to be made. It would seem that the house seems to need some final polishing before the family arrives.
My daughter Sarah and her husband are having a sad time. Aaron's Aunt suddenly suffered from an anerisum and the family had to turn off the machine yesterday. The family has gathered from all parts of the country to grieve. Her parents are quite elderly and not in good health. These things are always hard to handle but at this time of year it always seems worse.
Please keep them in your prayers.
I look forward to the New Year and another year of stitching. God bless you all and have a very Merry Christmas!
Kerry

A Good Day!

Well my day started off with a phone call from my dear friend T, her husband C had a better night last night. Thank goodness. I think tonight if she turns down the monitor a bit she will have a better sleep. Tomorrow I am taking her some corn chowder and I know that will make her smile.
I spent the late morning and afternoon at Henley's Landing with J and M completing my ornaments for my grandchildren and for my little ones out of town. We had a great time, as usual I lost a few things and found a few things. My friend J had a bad day with a project that apparently did not have dye fast thread. What a shame, but in the end it was framed is up for Christmas. She will not be buying from that company again!
Tomorrow I am making fudge and going out for lunch with my hubby. With any luck some stitching. Yes I have a NASCAR to finish before Christmas and then I am done!!!!!!

How many days before Christmas?

Ok, you know what? I don't want to know, every year it seems to get worse, I just have so much to do and no time to do it. Steve and I went shopping today, we did find a few things but the stores were hot, people were rude and there seems to be no Christmas spirit.
It does not help that I have a dear friend that is very ill and it has pretty much put a damper on the holiday season for me. I am trying to cope with it, but it is hard.
I am going to write my Christmas cards tonight, it should have been done Friday evening but it did not happen. Tomorrow I am hoping to finish my ornaments with my good friend Jayne's help. Hopefully Tuesday I will get my wrapping done. Thursday I am going to pick up my Mom and bring here here for the holidays. That is when my Christmas begins.
I am glad to see that our freezing rain warning has been cancelled, and so far there is no snow. It seems it is all around us, but not here. Maybe next week just in time for Christmas!
Enjoy your week everyone, maybe get a little sleep!

Wednesday night at Henley's Landing

A few of us gathered at Jayne's last night to madly stitch and try to finish some of our projects for Christmas. We had our first snow and the wind was literaly howling.
We all had a few stories about our husbands. It must be the time of year we are all stressed and of course I was upset because Steve had lost my "friggen" book! He called half way through the meeting to say he had found the "friggin" book. Good thing for him! Lets just leave it at that.
Monday I am meeting up with Jayne to finish my ornaments, that will be a load off my mind. I am going to my Mom's on Thursday and I will be able to drop them off on my way.
One more day of work tomorrow and I will be off for a week. It is the first time in 25 years I have had a week off in December and boy do I have a lot to accomplish. Friday night is time to write my Christmas cards and the list goes on............

Cross Stitching Sisters Christmas 2009

I am just getting time for my blog now. I have to say that our annual Cross Stitching Sisters Christmas was the best ever! Jayne you are the best hostess ever, even though your knees were killing you and you were in a lot of pain you chose to ignore it and kept that happy smile on your face all night.
The gift to all of us of a goblet from Marjorie's window is such a gift to all of us. We all learned a lot from that lady and she will always stay in our hearts. Forever. Having Christmas dinner at her table, I know she was smiling down on us for sure.
The food was delicious and the desserts well, lets just say it is not going to be pretty at weigh in this week!
For me personally having Trish with us was special, with all her concerns with Chas being ill. It was so good to see her enjoying herself for a little while.
It was also a nice surprise that Irma was able to bring Audrey to our Christmas part and she got to meet the rest of the group. She is such a sweetheart, a very special lady.
And last but not least the presents WOW are we good, every ornament was superb! I can hardly wait until next year. I wonder what 2010 will bring to us all............ stay tuned, the best is yet to come.

A certain sister is awesome!

A certain sister, named Jayne, what can I say. She is truly one in a million. Yesterday she delivered to my door the most beautiful smocked dress for my grandaughter Mackenzie's 5th birthday. I had completed the smocking a couple of weeks ago and I had asked her if she would sew the dress together for me. I had tears in my eyes when it arrived. I tried to hide them, I don't know if I succeded or not. Jayne thank you so very much, I delivered the dress today to Mackenzie. She tried it on, it fits perfectly and she looks adorable in it. Pictures were taken and I will post them on my blog as soon as I can.

Tomorrow is our cross stitch Christmas party at Henley's Landing, I am off to make scalloped potatoes for the event. My present is complete all I have to do is wrap it and write out my Christmas cards. That will take a while, our numbers have increased this year!

I love Christmas!

Thursday night

Hi everyone, sorry I have been away from my blog. I have had a lot going on and I am afraid not a lot of stitching. I have been very busy at work. My dear friend Trish has an ill husband who is in hospital right now. And my daughter is shopping her heart out in the great U.S.A. So her two little rugrats have been staying with us while their Daddy works. We have had a lot of fun with them, but boy are we tired. They will be going home tomorrow night.

I will be stitching all evening tomorrow, I have to make up time, Christmas is coming soon. So much to do and as usual so little time!

My friend Jayne has just framed her Harem it looks wonderful! T's unicorn is great we saw the finished profuct last night! What a talented group we are.

Good morning everyone!

Well today did not start off so well I had terrible cramping in my leg and I had very little sleep. I decided to stay home from work and give it a rest.

Last night was better we all gathered at Jayne's for a night of stitching. Jayne has completed The Harem, it is absolutely wonderful! The rest of us are working on our Wednesday projects. My Evangaline is underway and T with her moose, P with her heron, (the branch is great) TL is getting her wolves underway and TM would have completed her snowmen but she forgot her outline thread at home. We broke up early as some us have early morning start times. We all would like to stay later, maybe when we retire.

No more stitching for me this wee end I am getting ready for my Creative Memories Christmas Open House! I will be a little busy!!!!!!

Back from Niagara Falls

A fun time was had by Steve and Kerry in Niagara Falls, we set off Friday afyernoon. It was a glorious sunny and warm day and the drive down to the falls was great. So nice to be away fro a few days. We stayed at a lovely hotel overlooking the falls and our friends Debbie and Chan met us and stayed over. We went out for dinner and gambled our 20.00 at the casino and left. No we did not win. Saturday morning they left and I went off to class. Yes I was there for a convention so I did have to attend class on Saturday and Sunday morning. But that was ok, the rest of the time was for fun.

Saturday night we had a great buffet in the Grand Ballroom and there were many prizes given away, no Steve and I came home with NOTHING! Everyone else at our table won, but not us. What a bummer.

We arrived home around 3:00 and I stitced for a little whle on a Christmas ornament, but I was so tired I really coundn't concentrate so I put it away and just watched a little telly with Steve and it was an early night.

This week Maddison and Chloe are staying with me for a couple of days and I have my Creative Memorie's open house on Friday and Saturday so I will be a busy lady this week.
I hope to have some time to stitch but it does not look good right now.

Pray for me........

November 9, 2009

Hope everyone had a great week end. I sure did. We had Steve's Mom and his sister and her husband for the day on Saturday and for dinner. It was a very nice visit and the weather was beautiful, warm enough that we could all sit outside in the afternoon. Imagine November and we did not need a coat.

Sunday I was off to church in the morning. It was our Remberance Day service, very emotional for us this year. It is the first year without Steve's Dad being with us. We miss him a lot. He was a WW2 vet and he always carried the flag into the church with the other vets. We were always so very proud of him.

When I got home from church I planted myself on the deck with my stitching. I am working on Evangeline, she is coming along quite well. Then around 4:00 it was time to get dinner ready for my stitching sister Trish and her husband Chas. They arrived about 5:00 and Steve made BBQ chicken on the BBQ it was delicious.

Today November 9, 2009 is my good friend Debra's birthday. We have been friends since grade 1. Hope you had a great day and I look forward to seeing you on Friday.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Wednesday night at Jayne's

It is my favourite day of the week, Wednesday. This is the day The Stutching Sisters all gather at Jayne's for a night of stitching and discussions on all the world issues. Last week it was H1N1. Who know what tonight will bring.

I had a call this week from a lovely lady in Sarnia that I met in London at The Thread and Eye. She is looking for the chart for Kindred Spirits. Apparantly it has been discontinued, so this week end I will be digging through my stash to find my chart. Wish me luck.

Today has been a really glum, rainy day. I hate rainy days I always feel that something bad always happens when it rains and true to form I received a phone call from my dear cousin in Petrolia and it seems her daughter was in a bad car accident in Toronto. She is going to be ok, but it was a big scare for her family. You just never know, do you?

My sweet husband has made dinner tonight, so off I go to see what he has created.

One more thing my ornament for the Christmas exchange is stitched, now Jayne just has to help me put it together...............Please?????

Halloween is here!

Well is everyone ready for the trick or treaters to come knockin on our doors tonight. I had to work today. So God bless Steve he has decorated, made the witch's brew ( a tradition at our house) and he even made a mad dash to the store to pick up extra candy. We are ready so let the games begin. The weather has co-operated no more rain. It is chilly but we can deal with chilly just keep the rain and snow away.
I look forward to tomorrow, with all the activities over I will have time to stitch. I can hardly wait. I will be off to church in the morning and then the rest of the day will be dedicated to me and my needle and thread.
Happy Halloween every one!

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Hi everyone, hope it was a good week end for all my stitching friends! We had a quiet week end but we enjoyed our time. Friday night we met friends for coffee and such a good time catching up on our lives. It is such a shame when our lives get so busy that we lose contact with special friends. We have promised ourselves this will not happen again.
Saturday my hubby went to visit his Mom who lives out of town. I had a few hours to stitch and to catch up on some things around the house.
Sunday I went to church and then I came home got changed and we took our very hyper Irish Setterfor a walk along the river. He was pretty pooped when we got home. My evening was spent under my stitching lamp finishing yet another Christmas ornament, two more to go.
Hopefully I can start a large project soon, what will it be, I will have to give that some thought. I have a few to chose from. Maybe Evangeline, I am pretty sure that will be the one.

Saturdays are so nice!

I had a great day today. Steve had to go to London to see his Mom, so I got to sleep in. It was soooooo nice. Both of my darling daughters arrived after lunch and we had a nice quiet afternoon together. Steve arrived home just in time to take me out to dinner. Perfect day, now he is watching the Leafs get massacured again. I am going to make my way to have some stitching time, and hopefully make the odd comment about th Habs but they are not doing very well either so I had better tread softly.
Have a good week end everyone.

Stitching night at Henley's Landing

We had a great night of stitching at my good friend Jane's tonight, we were a small gathering, but very mighty in spirit. Many topic's were discussed and analyzed. We all have different opinions and we some of us have had heart breaking experiences, but we have all survived and we have learned that we can become better human beings and with a little bit of luck hopefully the next generation will be better for it.
We heard from one sister that she has a twin that will not leave. Two of our sisters just got back from lovely vacations in the USA where they did some cross stitch shopping. Lucky girls. Jane your wolves look great, now when is the Millinium Sampler going to be completed? Oh yes Roxanne is your donkey going to finished before Christmas?
I am so blessed to be a part of this wonderful group, thank you all for always being such great Stitching Sisters!

Monday, October 19, 2009

Well I knew this day would come, my holidays are officially over for 2009. I am off to work tomorrow. I must say I have enjoyed my week. I managed to get in a lot of stitching. My Christmas ornaments are on their way to being complete, four more to go and of course I have two Christmas presents to complete.
Today was a beautiful fall day, I sat out on the back deck for a bit and then I decided today was the day to make my beet pickles. I must say they are a lot of work for 5 jars. Oh well they taste mighty good at Christmas time with our tourtiere.
Now I must go and get myself organized for work tomorrow, yes I am big time sad!

Sunday, October 18, 2009

I had a great day today, I spent the entire day with my hubby. We atarted off our day with a nice breakfast and read the paper, trust me that did not take very long. Our local newspaper, well they try but there just isn't much new.

Then we decided to clean up the house, which took longer than we planned but that was ok. My computer room really needed help and poor Steve he had the basement to contend with. Both rooms are back in shape. Tomorrow we have plans for the front hall closet and the living room.

Tonight we treated ourselves and went out to dinner. It was Italian night, it was so delicious! I started my meal with a martini, yummmmm.

When we got home of course Steve watched the hockey game, the leafs really are pathetic! I was happy I had time to stitch. With any luck I will have all my ornaments stitched and ready for Christmas. That will be awesome.

Friday, October 16, 2009

My day started off with my good friend Jane calling me and helping me yet again with setting up my blog. Thank you Jane, you are such a good friend.
I have now completed my seven projects, thank you Jane for all your hard work. The wires and labels are all on and as soon as I have myself together and maybe another coffee I will be off to the Thread and Eye to put them in their show for a couple of weeks. I will give my good friend Debra a call and maybe we can get in a little visit before I head home to make Steve his supper. Boy being on holidays is hard work.

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Today was a very busy day, I started off by being late for my hair appointment and that was not a good thing. Iwent flying out of the house not even time to pick up a Tim Horton coffee, what a bummer!
This afternoon I spent the afternoon at my good friend's Jane where she helped me no she 99% helped me complete 7 projects that have been rolled up in a towel for way too long. They are so beautiful. Thank you so much Jane you are the best! Leroy will not be happy that you were helping me and not in the garden working, I am sorry but it was way too cold to work in the garden today anyway!
Jane thank you so much for showing me how to start on my blog, I will work on it more when Steve goes to bed. Let me know what you think.
