The end of a great week

I must say I have had a great week of holidays. I started off by having a 4 day cross stitching retreat at Brentwood on the Beach with twenty other cross stitchers like myself. It was a wonderful week end. Then I came home to a relaxing week of doing what I wanted to do. I stitched, tried to organize my house a little bit, then I stitched. Well you know how it goes, I will be honest I did more stitching and watching the Olympics than anything else. My hubby was busy working, so I had time to stitch and that's just what I decided to do. I am afraid when Monday morning comes and the alarm goes off at 5:30 I will rely on my memories of my stitching to get me through my work week.
The week end looks good hubby and I are going out for dinner with friends and tomorrow the family is coming to watch the Canadians win the GOLD! I am making pulled pork for the first time. Hope it turns out. If anyone has any tips for cooking it let me know. Jayne do you have any tips????? Just kidding!
We have had a small snowfall just enough to brighten things up. I do love winter. Tucker (my Irish Setter) had a great time playing in it today, he looks so cute with a white nose and 4 white snowy feet!
Have a great week end everyone.

Gold again for Canada!

It was a happy night tonight for us Canadians, our women's hockey team won gold 2-0 Sorry U.S.A. It was a great game and it was so nice to see so many patriotic Canadians. Wayne Gretsky and our Prime Minister Harper were there ti see the win. I did not see Keith Urban and his wife Nicole, they were there the other night but I didn't see them today. Maybe they were camera shy!
Tonight maybe we will win another medal with our ladies figure skating, and of course there is the men's hockey coming up too. So many things to watch, it is hard to get any stitching done.
Go Canada Go..............we are so proud!

"Rain on me"

Hope is more than a word
It is a state of being
It is a firm belief that
even if you don't know how
even if you don't know when
God will come through and
better days are ahead
Life brings rain
Hope dances in the puddles
until the sun comes out again.

Brentwood by the Beach

I am home from a wonderful stitching retreat at Brentwood on the Beach, which is organized by The Thread & Eye stitching store in London, Ontario. I arrived at the resort on Thursday afternoon one day early. Some of us just had to get more stitching time. We were all happy to see each other again and to see what everyone was stitching on. There were some lovely projects. Some massive, some smaller but all were great.
We spent time stitching, swimming in a salt water pool and then some time in the hot tub. We would then quickly shower and then back to stitching. We were stayed up intil the wee hours of the morning and we were up early in the morning. We did not want to waste time sleeping. There was too much stitching to so.
My dear friend Irma arrived on Friday night, she had to work on Friday what a bummer. But when she arrived I had the wine nice and cold and we enjoyed the whole bottle and maybe a bit more. It was a great evening.
I am happy to say Evangeline now has a head of hair and her neck which is done on one over one thread is complete. Her face is not. My Lizzie Kate project is almost complete. I am happy with what is accomplished.
I am on holidays this week so hopefully I will get more stitching done. But I have some other things that need my attention so we will see what happens.
Today it is actually snowing in our neck of the woods, what a pleasant change, I love snow! We have had a very mild winter too bad Vancouver can't get some of this fluffy stuff!

Olympic's in Vancouver 2010

Watching the opening ceremony of the Olympic games in Vancouver B.C. Canada was a very moving experience. Everything was so beautiful, we Canadians have done a great job. I must say seeing all the prominent Canadians on such a special day was very exciting, Donald Sutherland, Anne Murray, Rick Hanson, Walter Gretsky (Walter had been in our store shopping for Olympic gear on the Tesday before, he is such a nice man) When they showed Wayne was going to be the person to light the cauldron well that was when I really started to cry. It was a very emotional experience.
It was so sad that we had such a bad accident at the trials before the games. Our prayers go out to the family of the young man from Georgia. God bless you.
Today my hubby and I are going to celebrate Valentine's Day and and of course I will do some stitching and watch the games. I am hoping my daughters will stop by for a visit.
Friday night my hubby and I went to friends for dinner and a hot tub party. We had such a good time. Sitting in the hot tub with the stars and a glass of wine and good friends is such a great thing, and then it got cloudy and started to snow. It was great!
Last night we went to friends to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Great food and great company and lots of wine. J it is going to be a lean week.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

A Good Day!

Today was a very busy but productive day. Today at work the day flew by so many things to accomplish and of course there is just never enough time. Then I rushed home to see my hubby before he had to leave for work.
Then I met up with 2 friends for an hour or so, I am afraid that one of my friends did not have a very good day today, but I know this week is going to be much better for her. I am really happy with her decisions.
I only got about an hour of stitching in tonight and I should have been a sleep an hour ago, so I had better get off the computer right now.
One more sleep and the week end is here!!!!!

Sunday and happy

Today is a glorious day, I slept in until 11:00, after a week of getting up at 5:30 believe me I loved every minute of it. I had to work on Saturday too!!! I hate working on the week end.
Last night hubby made his famous ribs, they were so good too bad I could only have a little bit, oh well the vegetables were really good. Then it was an evening of hockey for hubby and stitching for me. Evangeline's ruffled blue skirt is really coming along. I will try to post a photo of her.
Today we are going to my daughter Sarah's and her family for dinner. Haven't seen the granchildren for a while so it will be fun to spend time with them.
The weather here has turned cold, but still no snow. Washington D.C. has decided to have the storm instead of us. That is ok with us. It does look pretty on the news, but we are thankfull that we do not have to shovel the pretty stuff.
Have a good week end everyone!

February is here!

I am always a happy camper when February 1st arrives, to me it is a sign that winter is coming to an end. Even though I do enjoy the snow and the cold temperatures, I am not keen at 6:00 a.m. when I have to go out and start the car to let it warm up before I drive off to work.
My hubby and I had a great week end we drove to my Mom's to help her celebrate her 79th birthday. We had lots of laughs and some good food. We were good and had a fruit flan for dessert, poor hubby went to 5 stores before finding one. It might have helped if he had called it a flan cake, he thought it was a flange cake (isn't that a part of a car????)
I want to thank Jayne for her response to the questionnaire (we always have to have a comedian in the group) She might end up sleeping on the beach, hope it doesn't rain!!!!!!
Just kidding. I am really starting to get excited about our annual retreat scheduled for the last week end in May at The lovely Brentwood On The Beach. We have 24 girls booked for our week end, how great is that? We should have the walls shaking that week end. We have one sister bring a Marguerita maker and a couple of others bringing shooters. I hope we can still stitch.
Well I have to sign off for now I am heading downstairs to stitch, hope everyone has a great week.
M. I am bringing your donkey on Wednesday will you be at Jayne"s?
