Please don't dessert me... I promise, I will be back just as soon as I have better control of my arm. Unfortunatly, I took a tumble down a couple of cement stairs at our front door and broke my right arm....hense, no bloging, no stitching and lots of numb butt. Needless to say, I will return when the comfort level is better and know that even though I am not able to get an entry in or comment on those whom I have been following, I am still very interested in what everyone is up to and will continue to peck away as I can.

With all of this said, I wish everyone the very merriest of Christmas Season and a very Happy New Year.

Poutine

If you want all the details on how to make this Canadian dish just click on the above link. This dish should be avoided if you are watching your intake of fat or calories but if you want something so totally delicious just go for it. Believe me it is so delicious. It began in Quebec, Canada but is spreading to other parts of Canada and also can be found in a few eastern states. Let me know what you think if you are eating it for the first time or second or third or fourth........

Old wagon..........

Hi everyone,
As some of you know by now I am from The Eastern Townships a small town of about 19,000 Magog, Quebec. My husband and I lived there for about 30 years. It will always hold so many precious memories for us. It has some of the best scenery in the world, beautiful lakes and mountains. We have many great friends there and we love to go back for visits. We have two very special friends Brenda and Richard that always want us to stay with them and we always do. They are the best of people who live in a big log home near the lake. Lily is their black standard poodle, I swear she knows our car when we pull in the driveway and she is at the car door immediatley when our car rolls to a stop. My hubby and I always put a lot of miles on our car when we are there driving around looking at all the scenery and visiting old friends and of course all the relatives.
Here is one photo of an old wagon already for autumn. It was taken by a fellow Townshipper I hope she doesn't mind sharing with you all.

The next photo is of Jay Peak in the background and St. Benoit du Lac it is a benedictine abbey that was built in 1912, yes it is 100 years old this year. I took this photo, hope you like it.This time of year we always went there to pick apples. They also have a local delicacy called curd cheese. On our last visit we brought back 80.00 worth for family and friends. So yummy, we make it in to poutine. Do you all know what that is??? Also in the photo is Lake Memphremagog, the northern end of the lake is in Magog, Quebec and the southern tip is in Newport, Vermont. To my family this will always be our first home, but southern Ontario is our new home now.

Happy autumn everyone, I will be back with some stitching photos soon I promise......................

And we were 4!

We Stitching Sisters meet every wednesday, 2 meetings are held at Jayne's (Henley's Landing) and 2 are at our local community centre. Both places have a huge table and lots of comfy chairs. Last night we had 4 stitchers total and 1 was working at the desk. We missed all our other sisters, where were you all? It was so quiet you could hear a needle going through fabric, except we were not stitching. We just decided to talk instead.
Well today I will just sit in my chair by my front window and stitch. I am expecting my daughter for a visit, hopefully she brings me a Tim's coffee and all will be well.
Have a great day everyone.

Summer is over!

I have been working on this for a bit. I started it on our Brentwood retreat in 2011, I had a few technical problems...... I want to use it as a centre piece for my kitchen table. My colours in my kitchen are blue and yellow but I am having trouble with the yellow. It just isn't what I wanted. So maybe I will finish it soon or maybe I will not. I guess time will tell. I have also been stitching on Titanic and I have also stitched some Christmas ornaments.
I had 2 weeks holidays and went back to my hometown for a few days taking my Mom and my grandaughter Maddison. We had a great time and Maddison got to meet a lot of family members, she had not met before.
Have a great week everyone.

Photos are coming from our annual retreat at Brentwood on the Beach!

This is the pathway past the new outdoor kitchen and towards the deck overlooking Lake Huron. The 4 from Forest and Jayne Chairs with a view! Who's little foot print was this? Someone sure was working hard on making this garden one of a kind! Janet, a glass of wine, her stitching project and a view of Lake Huron. Jayne and a wedding project for a friend. My grandson Benjamin and myself are crazy about everything there is about the Titanic, so this being the 100th year of the sinking of the ship I decided to stitch it. Who will get the finished project? Probably Ben, my walls are getting pretty full. Pennie has been working on this piece for quite a while it is going to be beautiful when completed. Here we all are at The Brentwood on the beach. This is a great bunch of ladies. The Stitching Sisters have been together for about 30 years. We have had ups and downs but we love each other like sisters and boy do we love to stitch. Each year we gather at the beach and it is always so much fun. The Stitching Sisters and The 4 From Forest, Jody, Bonnie, Anita, and Tracey. We have a common bond cross stitching and The Brentwood on the Beach! More photos later in the week, it is way past my bedtime. Ta ta for now. ~Happiest when stitching~

Triple Crown

May and June are special times for me and have been since I was a very little girl. My Grampa was a horse fanatic. When I was 5 years old he gave me probably the best gift give ever. He walked down our driveway leading a small pinto pony, his name was Cesare and boy did he have spunk. This was the start of a life time of loving horses. Well back to May and June. On May 5th it was time to watch the Kentucky Derby, the winner I'll Have Another, owned by a Canadian.
I'll Have another wins The Kentucky Derby Last night May 19th was the running of The Preakness and wow what a race. The conditions were perfect.
I'll Have Another wins The Preakness what an exciting finish! Now here is the scoop we have not had a Triple Crown winner since 1978 when Affirmed came through as our first Triple Crown winner. We have been waiting a long time for another. Is I'll Have Another going to be the one? I sure hope so. I will be glued to the TV in June to see if he has what it takes.
Affirmed is the last Triple Crown winner and what a great horse. Hopefully I'll Have Another will be our next one. Here's hoping!!!!! Stay tuned for the big race. My dear hubby is not really a horse person but I spend a lot of time watching hockey and tennis so each year when it comes to my favourite 3 horse races we watch them together and he has to admit he quite likes it. My Mom gets in on it too she called me to talk about it but I said we went out for dinner I will call you back as we taped it. I called her back and we had quite a time discussing it all. ~Happiest when stitching~

Stitching night

Wednesday nights are always so much fun, our stitching group has been gathering for 30 years. We have changed in many ways some people have joined and some have left right now we have 17 members. We are a cross section of personalities but when we gather around that big old table we are all the same we are "cross stitchers" Last night we seemed to be all at fever pitch, there was lots of laughter and many a stories being told. We welcomed Irma back she lives out of town now and has had surgery. She is looking better but is still tired. Patti was also in attendance she is our resident knitter (former cross stitcher) Trish was not there she had her bowling banquet, sure it has to be the same night, whatever.... Hope everyone has a great day. ~Happiest when stitching~

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! We celebrated with our family yesterday at my daughter's home with all the family, except for my grandaughter Chloe. She has a very bad cold and flu. Today my daughter Sarah and her family go to her husband's family Easter gathering. Today it will just be my husband and my mother. It will be very quiet time as my youngest daughter and her daughter are both very sick with cold and flu. That's the way it goes sometimes.
I hope everyone has a good day with their families and that you all enjoy your Easter time with families and friends.

Birthday April 1st

Yestersay was my birthday and my great friend Barb took me to see the Elvis show in Niagara Falls. It was one of the best Elvis shows that I have ever seen. I have seen a lot!
The good looking gentleman that played Elvis is Steve Kabakos, he is from Ontario and has many awards in Canada and at Graceland. He is sooooo good, as Jolo says on American Idol he gave me goosies!!!
If he is in your area go and see the show it is fabulous.
It was a great way to celebrate my birthday that is for sure.

I am back!

We went on a vacation and we had a wonderful time getting time to blog has been a challenge. I have had a lot going on, but here I am. I am going to post a few photos of our holidays and hopefully soon I will have some stitching to show you. I am still stitching Christmas ornaments I just can't get into a large project yet, but I will soon.
The mustang convertable was a rental, I gave it to my dear hubby for Christmas in his stocking. All four of us were pretty excited. We drove from Fort Lauderdale to Miami along the coast. Oh what a good time we had. The next day we were on the Ruby Princess for a week of cruising. The Fab 4 have been friends for almost 55 years. Oh the stories I could tell, maybe another day or maybe not.

Happy New Year 2012!

Hi everyone, sorry so long since my last post. Holiday time is always very tiring for me. This year was better as I had lots of help in getting the house decorated and I have to say that on Christmas day my daughter Rachel and her husband Steve and my two beautiful grandaughters came through and helped with the cooking and with serving of Christmas dinner. Now the house is back to normal and we can all look forward to 2012, The past year has has had more downs than ups. I lost my dear Auntie Thelma, she was 90 and it was her time to go. In your mind you know this is true but in your heart the pain is still there. We lost my mother-in-law in November, this has been very hard on the whole family. In December my Aunt Glenna suffered an anuresm (spelling may be wrong) she is in hospital and the outlook is guarded. So yes I am looking forward to 2012 being a kinder and better year.
DH and I are going on a cruise with our best friends Debbie and Channing to the Caribbean. We are very excited about that. We have been friends since grade 1. We went away with them a few years ago and we had such a good time. We are so looking forward to this one infact Debbie and I are going shopping today.
So on that note I am leaving DH and the the dog to take care of the house and away I go down the highway to spend some money!!!!!
Have a good day everyone.

A photo of me and wrapping day! Wow I think we bought too much!
My Mom, she doesn't look her age does she? 80 years young!
