Brentwood on the Beach cross stitching retreat!

Hello everyone, Just thought I would share a few of the photos from our past retreats! Brentwood on the Beach is situated on the beautiful shore of Lake Huron between Grand Bend and Bayfield in Canada. Our group of Stitching Sisters have been going to this beautiful place for 6 years now. We all love our time there so very much. Here is a hint of how much we love it.......we all actually start counting how many sleeps until we all tear off in our cars to get there.......and yes we tend to arrive early and tend to overstay and leave late! It is a totally do your own thing week end. There are no classes, but there is always quite a few of us that are ready to help whenever we can. We have an on going joke that some do not stitch the right way. But what I mean by that is an x can go on to the fabric many different ways. As long as they are all the same way you are good! There is a salt water pool, the lake is great but usually too cold to swim except for one sister you would go in and paddle around like it was July! She was a brave soul! Unfortunately we lost Trish last year, but I know in my heart she will be with us this year when her Stitching Sisters return to what some of us call Heaven on the Huron! I thought that I would let any cross stitchers know that due to some ladies not being able to return this year as it stands right now we have 4 spots open. If anyone is interested please send an e-mail to me at kerrybuzzell@gmail.com and I will be happy to send you all the details. I will tell you that it is two to a room and each bedroom has their own bathroom. The date for our week-end is May 27 - 29 Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Some us tack on 1 day before and 1 day after. We would love to meet new stitchers, we are a fun group and we LOVE CROSS STITCHING! ~Happiest when stitching~

Memories!

Yesterday would have been my dear friend Trish's 82nd birthday. She was able to spend the weekend with us at our Stitching retreat at Brentwood on the Beach. She even went for a swim in the very cool waters of Lake Huron. We did not know she was not well. We lost her on the Tuesday after our weekend away. She so loved her weekend away every year, as our mentor we loved our time with her. Yesterday was a day of remembering all of our good times together. Memories of her making her wonderful tea biscuits and her home made jams. She was the lady who taught me to cross stitch, she taught me how to stretch and frame my cross stitch. She also taught me how to be a better person and to be more tolerant and she tried to make me understand that I have to have patience. I must admit I have trouble with that one. Thank you Trish for being with me as long as you were, especially the last 3 years when I struggled through my tough times. I don't know what I would have done without you. Her last stitching project was of a church in The Netherlands where her Grand - daughter Natasha was born. I finished it for you Trish and it is so beautiful. I will love you forever Trish and I will miss you forever. Thank you for all the gifts that you shared with us none will be forgotten! It is proof that gifts need not to be wrapped....they just need to be shared. You really blew us away when you recited your poem that you wrote about the war years in Britain that you wrote when you were a little girl in a convent school. Happy Birthday dear Trish! In the 1st photo Trish is on the right, with our friend Audrey on the left. 2nd photo is her project for her Grand daughter 3rd left over threads 4th Our group photo....Stitching Sisters at Brentwood on the Beach - cross stitching retreat every year in May ~Happiest when stitching~

What a difference a day makes!

It is just crazy....we have had little to no snow this winter but all that changed yesterday. Yup it snowed, we also had ice pellets. Not nice at all. I started a new cross stitch project of sweet peas, thought it would put me in the mood for spring. ~Happiest when stitching~

Brentwood on the Beach Stitching retreat!

Two more sleeps and The Stitching Sisters will be off for a 5 day weekend of BLISS! Doing what we want when we want. I spent the afternoon deciding what I was bringing to stitch. Tomorrow I will throw my suitcase together remembering to pack a swimsuit for the salt water pool and oh yes there is a sauna and a hot tub and Lake Huron (which I will not even be sticking my toe in)I am sure there will be icecubes floating in the lake. It is suppose to go down to almost freezing tonight +2 celcius. I will stick to a warm pool. We have been going to Brentwood on the Beach for 6 years and we love it more each year. Kerry Can't seem to put my photo on my blog again. I am on my old computer and it is almost toast! I will try tomorrow. Sorry. ~Happiest when stitching~

Toronto photo

I love this photo and it has a story. My husband and I were on our way to Toronto Western Hospital for one of my visits and I went to take this photo and just as I was about to snap it from my car window a truck drove up beside and blocked my view totally. I just looked at the driver and said poop!!! The next thing that happed was I heard the horn on the truck and he is backing up WOW is all I can say. I snapped the photo, I gave a very gratefull wave and mouthed a thank you. So you see people there are great truck drivers out there. With all the news coming out of Buffalo with there terrible ordeal, let us give thanks for all the wonderful people that are helping others. You have to feel very sorry for seniors and the people who are trapped in their homes. God bless! Today I guess is one of those days............my photo does not want to download. I will try to post it later, right now I am not a happy camper!!!! Kerry ~Happiest when stitching~
