Happy New Year Everyone!

This has been one busy holiday. I have worked all week and have spent a good deal of time with my Mom who has been visiting for the holidays. I have had very little time to stitch. Last night we did all gather at Henley's Landing for an evening of stitching and and sisterhood laughs and enjoyment.
One of our dear sisters has a very sick husband and she was able to join us with her daughter-in-law for the evening it was good to have her with us. Our prayers are with them in this journey.
Tonight steve, my Mom and I had a great evening, we treated ourselves to a great meal. French onion soup, filet mignon, shrimp, baked potato and asparagus. Lots of wine of course. We had lots of laughs. Now we are in our pj's and are ready to ring in the New Year with Dick Clarke.
Happy New Year everyone!

Stitching calms the soul

Yesterday was a nice quiet day, for the most part my Mom and I sat and took it easy. My Mom is knitting a scarf for my daughter Sarah. My good friend Jayne gave her some wool and she has used it all. I took my time and spent it cross stiting Evangeline. She is starting to take shape. I will post a photo soon.
Tonight Deb and Chan, our good friends from London came for dinner, they brought their two bassets Gabby and Dorothy (she is from Kansas) How cute is that??? We had a great time as usual. We always look forward to spending time with our oldest and dearest friends.
Tomorrow I have to go to a funeral, my son-in-law's Aunt passed away suddenly. It is very sad for the family.
Tomorrow is another work day, so I had better sign off and hit the hay!

We have made it through another Christmas!

Today is going to be a kick back and take it easy day. Stitching is going to be the main stay of my day. Our Christmas was wonderful as usual. My Mom was here as were my two beautiful daughters and their families. I have two great son-in-laws and three grandaughters and one grandson. They range in ages from thirteen to five, what fun we had opening all the gifts this year. As far as we can tell only two gifts are missing in action 2 pairs of Olympic mitts. I am sure they will turn up some time.
Yesterday Steve and I went for brunch with some good friends what a good time we had. Lots of laughs and great seafood! It is always so nice to have such good friends.
Tomorrow I have to go back to work but our good friends D & C are coming for dinner so that will make for a great time.
But for today it is a take it easy day with lots of stitching and maybe a glass or two of wine!
Happy holidays everyone!

One more sleep!

One more sleep that is all we have. Yesterday was a very busy day for me. I work in a cash office/general office of a large retail store, yes there was a lot of money to count. I started at 7:00 in the morning and I finished at 6:00. I was pooped! I came home had a bowl of soup and that was it for me.
Sorry Jayne that I did not make the stitching gathering but I was in bed by 8:30. Today going to be a very busy day. I still have a few parcels to wrap, some final cooking, the trifle has to be made. It would seem that the house seems to need some final polishing before the family arrives.
My daughter Sarah and her husband are having a sad time. Aaron's Aunt suddenly suffered from an anerisum and the family had to turn off the machine yesterday. The family has gathered from all parts of the country to grieve. Her parents are quite elderly and not in good health. These things are always hard to handle but at this time of year it always seems worse.
Please keep them in your prayers.
I look forward to the New Year and another year of stitching. God bless you all and have a very Merry Christmas!
Kerry

A Good Day!

Well my day started off with a phone call from my dear friend T, her husband C had a better night last night. Thank goodness. I think tonight if she turns down the monitor a bit she will have a better sleep. Tomorrow I am taking her some corn chowder and I know that will make her smile.
I spent the late morning and afternoon at Henley's Landing with J and M completing my ornaments for my grandchildren and for my little ones out of town. We had a great time, as usual I lost a few things and found a few things. My friend J had a bad day with a project that apparently did not have dye fast thread. What a shame, but in the end it was framed is up for Christmas. She will not be buying from that company again!
Tomorrow I am making fudge and going out for lunch with my hubby. With any luck some stitching. Yes I have a NASCAR to finish before Christmas and then I am done!!!!!!

How many days before Christmas?

Ok, you know what? I don't want to know, every year it seems to get worse, I just have so much to do and no time to do it. Steve and I went shopping today, we did find a few things but the stores were hot, people were rude and there seems to be no Christmas spirit.
It does not help that I have a dear friend that is very ill and it has pretty much put a damper on the holiday season for me. I am trying to cope with it, but it is hard.
I am going to write my Christmas cards tonight, it should have been done Friday evening but it did not happen. Tomorrow I am hoping to finish my ornaments with my good friend Jayne's help. Hopefully Tuesday I will get my wrapping done. Thursday I am going to pick up my Mom and bring here here for the holidays. That is when my Christmas begins.
I am glad to see that our freezing rain warning has been cancelled, and so far there is no snow. It seems it is all around us, but not here. Maybe next week just in time for Christmas!
Enjoy your week everyone, maybe get a little sleep!

Wednesday night at Henley's Landing

A few of us gathered at Jayne's last night to madly stitch and try to finish some of our projects for Christmas. We had our first snow and the wind was literaly howling.
We all had a few stories about our husbands. It must be the time of year we are all stressed and of course I was upset because Steve had lost my "friggen" book! He called half way through the meeting to say he had found the "friggin" book. Good thing for him! Lets just leave it at that.
Monday I am meeting up with Jayne to finish my ornaments, that will be a load off my mind. I am going to my Mom's on Thursday and I will be able to drop them off on my way.
One more day of work tomorrow and I will be off for a week. It is the first time in 25 years I have had a week off in December and boy do I have a lot to accomplish. Friday night is time to write my Christmas cards and the list goes on............

Cross Stitching Sisters Christmas 2009

I am just getting time for my blog now. I have to say that our annual Cross Stitching Sisters Christmas was the best ever! Jayne you are the best hostess ever, even though your knees were killing you and you were in a lot of pain you chose to ignore it and kept that happy smile on your face all night.
The gift to all of us of a goblet from Marjorie's window is such a gift to all of us. We all learned a lot from that lady and she will always stay in our hearts. Forever. Having Christmas dinner at her table, I know she was smiling down on us for sure.
The food was delicious and the desserts well, lets just say it is not going to be pretty at weigh in this week!
For me personally having Trish with us was special, with all her concerns with Chas being ill. It was so good to see her enjoying herself for a little while.
It was also a nice surprise that Irma was able to bring Audrey to our Christmas part and she got to meet the rest of the group. She is such a sweetheart, a very special lady.
And last but not least the presents WOW are we good, every ornament was superb! I can hardly wait until next year. I wonder what 2010 will bring to us all............ stay tuned, the best is yet to come.

A certain sister is awesome!

A certain sister, named Jayne, what can I say. She is truly one in a million. Yesterday she delivered to my door the most beautiful smocked dress for my grandaughter Mackenzie's 5th birthday. I had completed the smocking a couple of weeks ago and I had asked her if she would sew the dress together for me. I had tears in my eyes when it arrived. I tried to hide them, I don't know if I succeded or not. Jayne thank you so very much, I delivered the dress today to Mackenzie. She tried it on, it fits perfectly and she looks adorable in it. Pictures were taken and I will post them on my blog as soon as I can.

Tomorrow is our cross stitch Christmas party at Henley's Landing, I am off to make scalloped potatoes for the event. My present is complete all I have to do is wrap it and write out my Christmas cards. That will take a while, our numbers have increased this year!

I love Christmas!
