Downton Abbey

Downton Abbey

What a home!
How many miles per gallon?
A grandmothers advise?

I am still not able to stitch but I am hoping to soon. Until then I am crazy in love with Downton Abbey.

Please don't dessert me... I promise, I will be back just as soon as I have better control of my arm. Unfortunatly, I took a tumble down a couple of cement stairs at our front door and broke my right arm....hense, no bloging, no stitching and lots of numb butt. Needless to say, I will return when the comfort level is better and know that even though I am not able to get an entry in or comment on those whom I have been following, I am still very interested in what everyone is up to and will continue to peck away as I can.

With all of this said, I wish everyone the very merriest of Christmas Season and a very Happy New Year.

Poutine

If you want all the details on how to make this Canadian dish just click on the above link. This dish should be avoided if you are watching your intake of fat or calories but if you want something so totally delicious just go for it. Believe me it is so delicious. It began in Quebec, Canada but is spreading to other parts of Canada and also can be found in a few eastern states. Let me know what you think if you are eating it for the first time or second or third or fourth........

Old wagon..........

Hi everyone,
As some of you know by now I am from The Eastern Townships a small town of about 19,000 Magog, Quebec. My husband and I lived there for about 30 years. It will always hold so many precious memories for us. It has some of the best scenery in the world, beautiful lakes and mountains. We have many great friends there and we love to go back for visits. We have two very special friends Brenda and Richard that always want us to stay with them and we always do. They are the best of people who live in a big log home near the lake. Lily is their black standard poodle, I swear she knows our car when we pull in the driveway and she is at the car door immediatley when our car rolls to a stop. My hubby and I always put a lot of miles on our car when we are there driving around looking at all the scenery and visiting old friends and of course all the relatives.
Here is one photo of an old wagon already for autumn. It was taken by a fellow Townshipper I hope she doesn't mind sharing with you all.

The next photo is of Jay Peak in the background and St. Benoit du Lac it is a benedictine abbey that was built in 1912, yes it is 100 years old this year. I took this photo, hope you like it.This time of year we always went there to pick apples. They also have a local delicacy called curd cheese. On our last visit we brought back 80.00 worth for family and friends. So yummy, we make it in to poutine. Do you all know what that is??? Also in the photo is Lake Memphremagog, the northern end of the lake is in Magog, Quebec and the southern tip is in Newport, Vermont. To my family this will always be our first home, but southern Ontario is our new home now.

Happy autumn everyone, I will be back with some stitching photos soon I promise......................

And we were 4!

We Stitching Sisters meet every wednesday, 2 meetings are held at Jayne's (Henley's Landing) and 2 are at our local community centre. Both places have a huge table and lots of comfy chairs. Last night we had 4 stitchers total and 1 was working at the desk. We missed all our other sisters, where were you all? It was so quiet you could hear a needle going through fabric, except we were not stitching. We just decided to talk instead.
Well today I will just sit in my chair by my front window and stitch. I am expecting my daughter for a visit, hopefully she brings me a Tim's coffee and all will be well.
Have a great day everyone.

Summer is over!

I have been working on this for a bit. I started it on our Brentwood retreat in 2011, I had a few technical problems...... I want to use it as a centre piece for my kitchen table. My colours in my kitchen are blue and yellow but I am having trouble with the yellow. It just isn't what I wanted. So maybe I will finish it soon or maybe I will not. I guess time will tell. I have also been stitching on Titanic and I have also stitched some Christmas ornaments.
I had 2 weeks holidays and went back to my hometown for a few days taking my Mom and my grandaughter Maddison. We had a great time and Maddison got to meet a lot of family members, she had not met before.
Have a great week everyone.

Photos are coming from our annual retreat at Brentwood on the Beach!

This is the pathway past the new outdoor kitchen and towards the deck overlooking Lake Huron. The 4 from Forest and Jayne Chairs with a view! Who's little foot print was this? Someone sure was working hard on making this garden one of a kind! Janet, a glass of wine, her stitching project and a view of Lake Huron. Jayne and a wedding project for a friend. My grandson Benjamin and myself are crazy about everything there is about the Titanic, so this being the 100th year of the sinking of the ship I decided to stitch it. Who will get the finished project? Probably Ben, my walls are getting pretty full. Pennie has been working on this piece for quite a while it is going to be beautiful when completed. Here we all are at The Brentwood on the beach. This is a great bunch of ladies. The Stitching Sisters have been together for about 30 years. We have had ups and downs but we love each other like sisters and boy do we love to stitch. Each year we gather at the beach and it is always so much fun. The Stitching Sisters and The 4 From Forest, Jody, Bonnie, Anita, and Tracey. We have a common bond cross stitching and The Brentwood on the Beach! More photos later in the week, it is way past my bedtime. Ta ta for now. ~Happiest when stitching~
