December 2011

Wow December is passing by in a flash, I work in retail so it is always a very busy time. This past week end my DH and I were working on the house trying to get it ready for the holidays. My son-in-law installed new ceramic tile backsplash in my kitchen, it looks so very nice. But messy going in. DH and I went our for dinner Saturday evening. Sunday was a quiet day we slept in and then spent the rest of the day doing pretty much nothing. I did stitch some finishing up one more ornament.
Now I am off to work. I will check in later.

Black and White photo from 1938

I just found this photo on facebook. I have the same photo but mine has been worked on and is in better shape.
It is a photo of my dear Grandpa and his snow car. I have heard many stories of my grandpa driving doctors to many homes when babies were being born etc. We have an abbey in our home town and sometimes he would drive the monks across the frozen lake.
I love black and white photos. I loved my Grandfather so very much he and I had such a loving relationship. Right now I am typing this on his roll top desk. Memories are so very important I think of him every day. He taught me a lot of things. He gave me the basics. Treat everyone with respect, forgive, never lie....there are no excuses for lying. My grandfather saw his mother killed on a bridge by a run away team. She pushed her two children to safety and died saving them. It was a large family by todays standards. The were 6 little boys left to be brought up by their father. He married a bit later and had one daughter with her. Life was pretty tough back then.
Yes I am still stitching but I am working on Christmas ornaments right now.
Stay tuned I promise to post something soon.

Jean and Earle

Today was a very sad day for our family we buried my husband's parents. Jean and Earle were a wonderful couple, a couple who were totally devoted to each other and to their children and to their family. Earle passed away 2 years ago and Jean passed away on November 10, 2011. They were buried today with their loving family close by. Father Keith was their with us and the ceremony was beautiful. They would have been so proud, their family will not be the same, but we will try to live their lives to there standards. I cannot say much more at this time, more will come later. Thank you to all those who came together to say good bye today. We really needed you and your hugs and kind words will stay in our hearts forever.

Priscilla Jean Buzzell

Yesterday was the end of a wonderful life, my Mother-In-law passed away. She was born on August 10, 1930. Here was a lady who loved life and her family was everything to her. She would often say as long as our family is together that is the only thing that matters. She lived to be 81 years young.
Two years ago she lost the love of her life her dear husband Earle. It was an extremely tough time for her. They had been together more than 60 years. She tried her hardest to cope with life with out him, but it was a trial.
For the past month her health deterioted very quickly and on November 10th at 6:30 Earle came to her and took her home. My daughter Sarah said, "Mom the angels are dancing with them now. Look at Grampa he has a huge grin from ear to ear. They are together again, isn't it a wonderful thing?
This week we will bury them in a beautiful cemetary with big beautiful maple trees. It is the perfect place for a perfect couple.
Safe journey Priscilla Jean and Earle Peter! God bless you both.

Dental appointment!

Yesterday was quite the day, I was up at 5:30 at work by 7:00. I was suppose to work until 3:30, but asked the boss I had a dental appointment in another town and it takes me about 40 minutes when all the conditions are right. I made the ramp onto the hiway only to find they were putting new pavement down and of course you could not exit so it took forever and I had an OPP officer in his car right behind me. When we finally got past the construction zone I pulled over into the righ lane immediatley and boy did he go flying by apparently he had to be somewhere in a hurry. The dental appoinment went fine, just a cleaning today and all was well with my teeth.
When I got home I had to let the dog out and then my dear friend Trish and I went out for dinner (fish and chips) My DH was away for a couple of days. So I was free as a bird. It was very good.
Today was a good day, all the grandchildren came for dinner and that is always a lot of fun.
On my way to a good night's sleep, one more day and then I have the week end off. Hope to blog again on the weekend, stay tuned!

It is fixed!

Hi everyone, well my blog looks normal again, I have no idea what happened. I called my friend Jayne who helps me out with a lot of my stitching finishes and also with my blog. She is a great friend and I have a feeling it was she who figured it out. Thanks again Jayne.
Today was my last day of holidays until January. I spent it with my daughter Sarah, we went to visit my mother-in-law her Grandmother. She is now in pallative care hospital. We spent the morning and early afternoon with her. It was a good visit. I took her some apple crisp which she really enjoyed. We arrived home an hour earlier than my grandchildren which is a very good thing.
I will sign off for today, I have to go and make my lunch. One thing I did was add up all my breakfast and lunch bills from our restaurant at work. Way way too much, I am getting frugal and I am starting tonight. Steve (DH) and I are changing our lifestyle we both have some weight to lose.

Cancer takes another great man.

Today was a very sad day for many Canadians, Jack Layton was such a great person. He has changed our country so much and in my opinion for ever. I have just finished reading the letter he had left for his wife to pass on to us if he should pass. I read it and wept, truly a very emotional end. He was a great polition and a very intelligent man. The world is sadder today but hopefully we can remember him with a smile. He truly loved life and he also loved Canada.

Work, work, work!

What is a girl to do. I have worked all week end, I am very sad not much stitching has been accomplished. I don't get another day off until Saturday. I am hoping that maybe my DH and I will be able to get away to Lake Huron for a picnic if we have good weather. Every year we meet our friends and share a fun day over looking one of the most beautiful lakes ever.
My DH is working tonight so maybe I can fit in some stitching tonight after I pull some threads I have two wedding samplers to stitch for my Mom. She has been invited to two weddings and she has asked me to stitch them. She is not a cross stitcher. She knits, crochets, and cooks. She created one cross stitch project and that was enough for her.
Hope everyone has had a great week end!

Doesn't he look harmless?

Looks can be deceiving, for those who do not know I have to walk with a cane. I have dystonia and for the last few years I have had to give in and use the trusty cane. So this morning before work I had to drop my beloved Tucker off at the groomers. This morning it was raining like crazy, getting him to the car was no easy task but we both made it. Then after work I had to pick him up as my DH was working out of town. Picking him up was the problem after paying the bill I went to turn around he somehow managed to trip me and I went flying....cermaic tile is pretty hard when you hit it as hard as I did. WOW what a spectacle I must have been. But I must say the staff and customers were great and helped me to my feet. Someone else put him in the car. Now I think I will have a hot bath and maybe a nap. I've had enough for one day!
Stay posted I am sure there will be more stories about my lovely Irish Setter.

Remembering a dear Uncle

Today is my Uncle Norrey's birthday. He was my Mom's oldest brother. He was born on this day in 1915. My grandparents had a total of 10 children two passed away one stillborn and one as an infant. Growing up on a farm in Quebec's Eastern Townships was not an easy life. There was never enough money in those days and as he grew into a man his priority was to keep the farm running and to help my grandparents as much as he could. His enjoyment in life was to enter as many plowing matches as he was able to do. When I knew him the team of percheron horses named Pat and Dick were a fine match and they were great at their job. He won many matches and he brought home many trophies and ribbons.
Late in his life he met a lady at a card playing event and decided to get married, which was quite the shock for his family. He was 60 years old when this all took place. He and his bride sold their farms and they bought a house together.
What I really remember about my Uncle was he loved to tease all us nieces and nephews. He had a contagious laugh. He never said no when we wanted to ride Pat and Dick. My favourite horse was Dinah I usually got to ride her she was little more quiet.
My Uncle passed away in 2006, he was 91 years young. He was a gentle man who had huge responsibilites, I truly believe he loved life and always took pleasure with the little things. My growing up years were sometimes difficult and not always happy but I can tell you this when we visited the farm I was always happy. He made such a big deal of our time together and that was no easy task because he never had a day off. The animals always needed to be fed and the cows always needed to be milked etc. We were all eager to help, I am not sure how much help we were. I think we might have been more of a nuisance. He tended to get more upset with the boys than the girls. My cousin Gerry had a story about a tractor, he was not happy that day let me tell you. But that is his story not mine, we leave it at that.
Happy Birthday Uncle today you are remembered with much love and tonight at dinner we will give a toast to you and to a life well lived!

Summer Fun

Summer is such a fun time, especially for grandchildren. Here is a photo of my two oldest grandaughters taken at a beautiful spot on Lake Erie. They like their family love to be near the water. I love the phot and hope you like it too.
Today was my first day back to work. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Am I losing it?
Tonight I will be sitting watching TV and doing a little bit of stitching and then early to bed time tonight.
It is still very hot here, no sitting on the deck tonight.

Good and bad times!

I have been on holidays for the last two weeks. The first week I did not do to much I wasn't feeling all that well, we had some really hot weather and I spent most of the week in the house. We have air conditioning and believe me it was wonderful!
The second week I went to visit my Mom who lives about two hours away. We had a good time. She lives near Lake Huron we always spend lots of time near the beach it was great.
Unfortunatley my mother-in-law has become very ill and has been in the hospital for the last few days. She has just gone in for emergency surgery tonight and we are praying all goes well. She is very fragile right now and we are all not feeling too good about things so please keep us in your thoughts and if you could a prayer right now would be much appreciated. I will keep you updated when I can.

My blessings

Counting my blessings, that is an easy one. My husband, my children, and my grandchildren. The other very important blessing is my Mom. She is a wonderful mother and I try to thank her and tell every day by phone that I love her. My mother and I live 2 hours a part, so we talk a lot on the phone. I have started calling her every day, I like going to bed a night and knowing she is safe and loved. Life can be interupted at any time so you had better enjoy every minute because you just never know what is around the corner.

FOR THOSE OF US WHO REMEMBER......

Hollywood Squares:

These great questions and answers are from the days when theHollywood Squares game show responses were spontaneous, not scripted, as they are now.
Peter Marshall was the host asking the questions, of course.
Q.. Paul, what is a good reason for pounding meat?
A. Paul Lynde: Loneliness!
(The audience laughed so long and so hard it took up almost 15 minutes of the show!)

Q. Do female frogs croak?
A. Paul Lynde: If you hold their little heads under water long enough.

Q. If you're going to make a parachute jump, at least how high should you be?
A. Charley Weaver: Three days of steady drinking should do it.

Q. True or False, a pea can last as long as 5,000 years.
A. George Gobel: Boy, it sure seems that way sometimes.

Q. You've been having trouble going to sleep.. Are you probably a man or a woman?
A. Don Knotts: That's what's been keeping me awake.

Q. According to Cosmopolitan, if you meet a stranger at a party and you think that he is attractive, is it okay to come out and ask him if he's married?
A. Rose Marie: No wait until morning.

Q. Which of your five senses tends to diminish as you get older?
A. Charley Weaver: My sense of decency.

Q. In Hawaiian, does it take more than three words to say 'I Love You'?
A. Vincent Price: No, you can say it with a pineapple and a twenty.

Q. What are 'Do It,' 'I Can Help,' and 'I Can't Get Enough'?
A. George Gobel: I don't know, but it's coming from the next apartment.

Q. As you grow older, do you tend to gesture more or less with your hands while talking?
A. Rose Marie: You ask me one more growing old question Peter, and I'll give you a gesture you'll never forget.

Q. Paul, why do Hell's Angels wear leather?
A. Paul Lynde: Because chiffon wrinkles too easily.

Q. Charley, you've just decided to grow strawberries. Are you going to get any during the first year?
A.. Charley Weaver: Of course not, I'm too busy growing strawberries.

Q. In bowling, what's a perfect score?
A. Rose Marie: Ralph, the pin boy.

Q. It is considered in bad taste to discuss two subjects at nudist camps. One is politics, what is the other?
A. Paul Lynde: Tape measures.

Q. During a tornado, are you safer in the bedroom or in the closet?
A. Rose Marie: Unfortunately Peter, I'm always safe in the bedroom.

Q. Can boys join the Camp Fire Girls?
A. Marty Allen: Only after lights out.

Q. When you pat a dog on its head he will wag his tail. What will a goose do?
A. Paul Lynde: Make him bark?

Q. If you were pregnant for two years, what would you give birth to?
A. Paul Lynde: Whatever it is, it would never be afraid of the dark.

Q. According to Ann Landers, is there anything wrong with getting into the habit of kissing a lot of people?
A. Charley Weaver: It got me out of the Army.

Q. It is the most abused and neglected part of your body, what is it?
A. Paul Lynde: Mine may be abused, but it certainly isn't neglected..

Q. Back in the old days, when Great Grandpa put horseradish on his head, what was he trying to do?
A. George Gobel: Get it in his mouth.

Q. Who stays pregnant for a longer period of time, your wife or your elephant?
A. Paul Lynde: Who told you about my elephant?

Q. When a couple have a baby, who is responsible for its sex?
A. Charley Weaver: I'll lend him the car, the rest is up to him...

Q. Jackie Gleason recently revealed that he firmly believes in them and has actually seen them on at least two occasions What are they?
A. Charley Weaver: His feet.

Q. According to Ann Landers, what are two things you should never do in bed?
A. Paul Lynde: Point and laugh

Don't you just wonder.............

My Sunday was really a good day. Slept in, had a ymmy breakfast with DH and then we went for a car ride. We went to Hewett's for ice cream, it was a very hot day. Then we headed for Port Dover and sat on the pier and watched all the boats. Where does all the money come from? Do I want to know.....NO!
Not only are the boats costing so much but the gas all the repairs etc......
Oh well, we headed home had dinner and then settled in the couch. Good to spend the whole day with DH. We do not see each other through the week so it is really nice to see each other on the week-end.
Monday was a bad day, my son-in-law had a friend of the family pass away. It was actually his sisters BF. She was 36 years old and a mother of three little girls all under the years of 9. How sad is that, yes it was cancer.
My poor son-in-law decided to go fishing for an hour to clear his head he was very upset. He slipped on a rock in the river hit his head and broke his wrist. Can you believe it? His doctor said another young lad had the same accident, he passed away from the head wound. You just never know. Needless to say they really checked him out.
Hopefully he will heal quickly.
Have a great week everyone.

What fun we had!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/brentwoodonthebeach/sets/72157626702444047/

These photos were taken by a lovely lady by the name of Sarah who works at the most wonderful B&B, Brentwood on the Beach on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron. We were so blessed to have her share our great week end of stitching, laughter, shopping, swimming, and one very special late night skit by Sister Bonnie! The food was delicious. The 4 from Forest really know how to cook and Trish's biscuits were so very very good. The homemade jam just topped them off.
Thank you to the 4 from Forest for the lovely dish clothes that were so matched to the colours of The Brentwood. We so love spending our week end with you. You are great fun. I also want to thank you about keeping a journal about your stitching activities. I went right out and bought the book. I am collecting information and away we will go. Thank you so very much!!!!
Trish, just when I think I know everything about you, you come up with something new. The sonnet about St. Pauls cathedral really blew us away. WOW, is all I can say. If you are interested anyone it is posted on the 4 from Forest blog which is called More than just cross stitching. Great job girls. I got a little teary when I read it. Trish is truly a wonderful person and you are correct she has a wealth of knowledge. We love her so very much!

Wonderful holidays!

I am on holidays this week and isn't it nice that the sun began to shine? Today I went and spent the morning with my fellow stitcher Jayne. We had a project that needed to be completed. It is not done but hopefully soon.
I left her house around 1:00 and met up with my hubby and spent the rest of the afternoon on our deck having some wine and then dinner. Now I am putting on my pj's and having a quiet evening.
Two more sleeps and we are headed for Brentwood on the Beach, on the lovely beaches of Lake Huron. Four days of stitching on the beach.

4 more sleeps!

Hi everyone, well the ladies in The Stitching Sister's are getting pretty excited, we have 4 more sleeps and we will be off to Brentwood on the Beach for a fabulous week end of cross stitching. We will try to fit in time to go in the hot tub, sauna, and of course the salt water pool. It would be nice if the sun would shine and we could take time out to sit in the beach chairs and look out on beautiful Lake Huron, but if it rains then we will be content to sit inside and stitch and watch movies.

The million dollar view from Brentwood on the Beach!

Kentucky Derby Day!

~Happiest when stitching~

I am always happiest when stitching every day except on Kentucky Derby day. Some of you may not know but I am horse crazy, I grew up riding horses. My grandfather gave me a pinto pony when I was 5 years old, when I grew to a teenager I had a morgan mare, Angel, a Tennesee walking horse named Jojo, a buckskin quarter horse named Gunsmoke, and an Apoloosa named Montana. Every year since I can remember I have watched The Kentucky Derby, The Preakness, and The Belmont. I look so forwaed to it, my dear hubby always says but it only lasts a couple of minutes. That is true but what an exciting few minutes it is. I love it! If you have never watched tune in today it is worth the watch believe me! I will be glued to my TV that is for sure!!!!!
I will stitch tonight, not this afternoon.

The Royal wedding

I so enjoyed watching the royal wedding, Prince William and Princess Catherine both looked so very happy. Princess Diana would have been so proud to see her handsome son marry a lady he is obviously so in love with. Prince Harry seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself as well. My DH was working last night so I watched it all by myself and I loved every minute of it. I may watch it again tonight. It all went perfectly, there was an incident where a horse stumbled and the rider went flying but that was minor and I am sure not to many people noticed or so we can hope???
It was a fairy tale wedding and so beautiful. God bless them both!

Rainy Sunday!

Today was the day I was suppose to download some photos and let you know what I have been working on. Guess what I cannot find the cable to download from my camera to my photo program. I have searched and searched to no avail. Maybe sometime soon. I always leave the cable in my desk, where it is I have no idea. My DH never uses it so I cannot blame him.
DH is working this evening so I have lots of time oh well I guess I will have to stitch. Poor me, I guess a girl just has to do what she can do.
It was a beautiful day here yesterday but today it is cloudy, rainy and damp.
My friend Jayne came to stitch with me on Thursday, what a good time we had. She is just great and I love spending time with her. We are starting a project together at the retreat on May 27th. Our Stitching Sister's are counting the days, four days at the Brentwood by the Beach on the wonderful shores of Lake Huron. I hope we have good weather. If not we will have to stitch inside and not in our chairs by the water. That is ok too. We have a full house this year. So much fun. I will post photo's when we get home that is if I find my camera cable.
I am off to stitch, enjoy the rest of your Sunday everyone!

A sad day!

Yesterday at 9:00 p.m. my dear Aunt Thelma left us, she passed peacefully. Finally her struggle came to an end and she is now reunited with Uncle Harry. She and I were blessed with a very close relationship. When I was eighteen years old I spent two weeks with my Aunt and Uncle at the cottage. Apparently before I arrived she said to my Uncle Harry  "What are we going to do with an eighteen year old for two weeks?" They did not need to worry, for me going to the cottage was fun enough. We did other things too, there was a trip to Grand Bend and of course a lunch date at Cosmos. I still visit Cosmos pretty much every time I visit my Mom. We did a lot of other things in my two weeks. What really stays in my mind is what a lady my Aunt was. She spoke perfectly, dressed perfectly, and she treated me like I was so special. From that visit on we were the best of friends, we never had anything but good times when we were together. Two years ago I found a special card for her for Thanksgiving it had a covered bridge on the front and the verse suited her to a tee. Of course when I went to mail it I couldn't find it. Thankfully I found it and this past Thanksgiving she received it in the mail and she did like it. I know I am a very lucky person for having her in my life. She has taught me many things just by what she did and how she did things.
Today heaven received a new angel, and my Aunt and Uncle are reunited. She struggled for some years now and God bless her she is at eternal peace.
Soon I will choose a new cross stitch project it will be my Aunt Thelma project! Stay tuned I still have not decided but I will shortly.

Is it spring yet?

It seems that living in South Western Ontario means the weather is nuts!!!! One day we have rain, one day we have snow, one day we have sunshine. What a rollercoaster.
It seems we have great news about our Brentwood on the Beach retreat, we are totally booked. How great is that? I know that I can hardly wait to pack my bags and get ready to drive. One large suitcase for threads and projects, one small bag for clothes and my swim suit. You have to have your priority's straight.
Thanks Jayne for changing my blog to spring and for adding Johnny Reid songs for my listening pleasure and hopefully everyone else's. This Scotsman sure knows how to sing!
Thanks for checking in. Have a good week.

A great thursday!

Yesterday my Mom arrived for a few days. We are celebrating my birthday this week end. My birthday is tomorrow and I am working tomorrow and Saturday and then we are having my birthday dinner at my oldest daughter's house. I am really looking forward to it.
Today Mom and I spent the afternoon running some errands. We stopped in at my good friends Jayne she hemmed a pair of pants for my hubby, we had a good visit and then we made a few more stops and then came home.

Mom and I spent the evening watching American Idol and now I am headed to bed, I have an early day tomorrow.
Take care everyone and have a good week end!

A quick trip

On Wednesday I received a call from my Mom, my Aunt (who is very ill) was wanting to see me. Thursday was my day off and my boss said I could have Friday off. So I packed in a hurry and off I went. It is a two hour drive, I arrived in time to have lunch with my Mom and then off we went to the hospital. We spent the afternoon with my Aunt. It is so sad when our loved ones are in so much discomfort. She is of a good age and she has had a bad fall. Not so good. On Friday we went to see her again, this time we were joined by my favourite cousin S. Auntie was very happy to see her. I think we tired her out that day, we left about 4:30 and went back to my Mom's for dinner. There is a great little restaurant where they cook up the best fried perch (Purdy's) Wow where they delicious! It is was hard to leave and come home. I know she has the best of care, I wish I lived closer.
Tonight I plan on having a quiet night. My DH is working right now but he should be home in time to have dinner and maybe a glass of wine or two. He will probably watch the hockey game and I will stitch!
Have a great week end everyone.

Happy Monday????

Today was back to work after a very nice quiet week end. DH and I just relaxed and enjoyed our time together. Saturday I went to see my dear friend Jayne and had a nice visit while we enjoyed our time together, she seemed proccupied with rubbing her knee, which I might add is about double the size of her other one. What a surprise! Imagine that, see what happens when the doctor puts a whole new joint in there. But I must say for all she has been through she is doing very well. I know my hubby went through the same operation and it is not a walk in the park!!!!!
Sunday was a sleep in morning and then spent the rest of the day stitching and watching CNN and BBC, please God please help and care for the poor people in Japan. What a heartbreaking time for them. You just never know do you?
This morning when I was stopped at the traffic lights on my way to work, there was one car in front of me. I stopped with the prper distance between. All of a sudden this man gets out of the car (passanger side) he starts yelling and screaming at me to back up. He says she's driving a standard, she's going to roll back.......he is waving his hands at me and carrying on. Gees guy take a pill. If you had asked nicely I still would have moved.
What a way to break your good mood. Oh well I am just glad I don't have to live with the jerk! I went to work and forgot about him. And I had a pretty good day!
Tonight my DH is out so guess where I am going? Yup straight to my stitching and maybe an episode or two of Coronation Street.

Memories

Memories, when I was an infant my Mom took me on a long journey on the train. We went to visit my Mom's older sister who lived a small village, Oil Springs. That was the first trip of many through my life. When I was a teenager I made my first trip on my own. I flew into London, Ontario and my dear Aunt and Uncle  picked me up at the airport and we went to their cottage near Forest on Lake Huron. I stayed for two weeks. I would later find out that they were a little worried about entertaining me for two weeks, but that was never a problem. All three of us had a great time. That was the year I discovered Cosmo's Pizza. Everytime I go to Sarnia it is always on our agenda. Yummy. Through the years my Aunt and I have always remained very close. My dear Uncle passed away, it was a struggle but my Aunt dealed with life as best she could. In October my Aunt celebrated her 90th birthday, she is now in the hospital she has taken a very bad fall. I have spent as much time with her as I could. She is getting very tired. Things were said that had to be said and hugs have been given. Prayers and tears are on going.
Life is a wondeful and life is very sad. For me right now I am very sad but that being said I have been blessed because I have a very special family great Aunts and Uncles, very special cousins who are like brothers and sisters. I am an only child. Thank you all for all your love and goodness.
Thank you Aunt Thelma for all that you have given to me and to my family..........I will love you forever!

Could it be spring???

Hi everyone, what a beautiful day today, the sun was out, blue skies, but oh that wind. Even though the snow was melting, the wind cut like a knife (one of my Mom's sayings) I have finished work for the day, tonight some of the girls from work are coming to stitch. So I am going to have to go and do a few last minute tidying up before they get here.
My DH is working so I am on my own. That is ok, the girls come to stitch not to use their white gloves on the furniture. At least I hope they don't.
Have a great evening everyone!

Back to normal?

Some how these lovely chairs look very lonely, but in a few weeks
the sun will warm them and we will so enjoy the view of the lake!
Janet remember the sunscreen, we do not want burned feet again!
This beautiful dining room overlooks Lake Huron.

A few stitchers decided to stitch by the fire.

I am back from the February retreat, I had a great time. I did miss Irma, but she I am not sure was missing me. She and her signifigant other J were in Mexico enjoying themselves in the sun and sea.
Our retreat was wonderful so nice to get caught up with everyone. Martha brought her bright fish project even though she did not stitch on it, we all have a few projects. I am working on my four season floral wreath. I will try to post a photo of it later in the week.
Happy stitching everyone!

Guess where I am?

Hi everyone, guess where I am? I am sitting in a beautiful dining room overlooking Lake Huron, the view was spectaculer as the sun set leaving behind the most beautiful orange glow. There are about twenty stitchers this year and it has been a great reunion of stitching friends. The Brentwood is such a welcoming spot, the staff is so friendly and accomadating.
We just finished dinner, this year it was crandberry chicken, rice, broccolli and cauliflower, and squash. For dessert Black Forest and a vanilla cake. Yummy!
I am leaving you all now I am off to an evening of stitching and maybe a swim later.

Oh Happy Day!

Well finally my work week is over and the week end is here. My bottle of wine is chilling in the frig, my DH is working so I will be cross stitching tonight and catching up on Coronation Street.
My dear sweet Mom called me this morning to tell me that she passed her driving test, it is manditory in Ontario when you turn 80 you must take the test. She was celebrating at Swiss Chalet with my dear cousin Karen.
We had a wonderful time last week celebrating her birthday, the weather caused some of the guests to turn back home. The ones that did make it we had a great time.
Here is a couple of photos, her apartment looked like a florist shop!

My Mom's birthday!

Roma Louise, born February 4th, 1931 on her mothers birthday. My Mom had 10 siblings, two babies passed away Stewart and Oren. Stewart passed away as a newborn. Oren passed away at about nine months. My Mom lived on a dairy farm in The Eastern Townships in Quebec. Life there was a struggle, not a lot of money but some how they learned how to use the land to their advantage. My Mom tells stories of baking lots of bread and making a lot of preserves from the garden to help get through the long cold winters.
My Mom worked for Bell Canada until she married. Then she stayed at home and a few years later she welcomed me into the world. Although her marriage was not very happy she stuck it out for 25 years. Then she decided enough was enough and left it all behind and moved 500 miles away. I am happy to say she has made a new life for herself. She is very involved with her church and works one day at the soup kitchen and also volunteers at the red cross clinic.  She also visits the shut ins from the church.
My Mom is the greatest, I am an only child and I quite like it. My Mom is not only the greatest Mom but she is also my best friend. Today she celebrates her 80th birthday and I truly pray she lives many more years, I really don't know how I will live without her. God bless you, I love you so.
Happy 80th birthday

Winter of 2011

Hi there, today we had a pretty big storm at least the people of Ontario are all talking about the big one! I grew up in southern Quebec where we really got snow, so this really wasn't a big deal. I went into work today but about half of our employees did not and the shoppers stayed home too. So it was real quiet. I am home now and I think I might have a nap before dinner. Then I can spend the evening stitching. My DH is working so all will be quiet here.
Tucker relaxing in the hammock with my grandaughter Maddison

I found some photos of Tucker so I thought I would post them today. He really
                                                                     loves the camera.

Christmas ornments 2010

Here are my Christmas ornaments for 2010, I stitched them all and my great friend Jayne put them all together for me. She is a real gem. My four Grandchildren get one each and I have little ones in the family that receive one each and of course my two stitching groups receive one. This year I actually kept three for myself. Sorry they are so late being posted but I work in retail and Christmas is always one big blurrrr for me. Anyway hope you enjoy my stitching ornaments, I sure had fun with them over the past few months.

It's snowing!!!!

Hi everyone, It is snowing outside and I just love it. We have a few things planned today. Another birthday dinner for my hubby (how long will this go one?) His birthday was January 6th. It takes time when you work all week and friends are in town and out of town.
I have a favour blog stitching friends, I need more followers I am at 47 right now and I really would like a few more. Can you help????
I will not get time to stitch until Sunday, where I will make up for lost time, I hope.
Good news our great neighbour just finished shoveling my driveway and my walk way, God bless them they really take care of their older neighbours. I guess it is time to cook some ribs and maybe a cake to thank them again this winter.

Brrrrr, it is really cold outside / -5 degrees Celcius

Hi everyone it is really cold here in Southern Ontario, it was a bit of a shock going out to the car this morning at 5:30. I was just glad it started and didn't give me any problems. Tomorrow it is suppose to get warmer and rain then turn to freezing rain. Right now I think I would like to live in Aruba. One of my blogging sisters has a cottage on the beach in Austrailia, please I want to live there too! But they are having their problems with all the flooding. I guess each country has there own difficulties. We should be happy with where we live.
Canada may be cold in the winter, cold I can deal with compared to floods, hurricanes and tornadoes.
Tonight my two oldest grandaughters are coming for a sleep over with their dog Copper. Dad is working night shift and their Mom is away for a couple of days working. So Gramps and I get to do some bonding. We love it when they are here, our house is pretty quiet but two teenagers crank it up a notch.
I had better sign off they will be arriving shortly and I am making a stir fry for dinner.
Maybe some stitching later.

It's a New Year!

Well the new year has arrived and what did I get? I have a rotton cold. I have been sick for two days. I have dragged myself to work. I don't like being shunned, but it is our annual inventory and the office has to be in tip top shape. It would be nice if this big head of mine would clear so that I might be able to think. After work I come home and go to bed. I have just had my nap, hopefully I can enjoy the homemade chicken soup that my DH has made for me and I will try to stay up and enjoy his company for a few hours before I go back to sleep. What a life.
There will be no stitching tonight. Today we celebrate two of our Stitching Sisters birthdays. Happy Birthday Martina and Tammy, hope you have a wonderful day!
