Happy New Year

New Years Eve in New York city, I have always wanted to be in Times Square for all the festivities, but I guess it is just as well to watch from my living room. I wonder hoe many bathrooms are available to all those people. But it sure would be fun!

Happy New Year everyone, Christmas seemed to be over in a flash and now one more day and we will all be celebrating oue New Year! Our good friends Deb and Channing will be arriving about 3:00 tomorrow. They are bringing their dogs and they are staying the night. No worrying about driving home. We can go to bed whenever and can sleep in on Saturday. That works for me.

All the best to everyone, have a very nice New Years Eve.

Where have 24 years gone?

Today I was leafing through some old photo albums and look what I found, a photo of our stitching group which is called The Stitching Sisters. Some I am sad to say are no longer with us. Some are 24 years older and I am happy to say are still stitching. Every year we take a photo at Christmas time and sometimes at other times of the year. We have gained some members and lost some. At the moment we have enough members that we moved our meetings from our homes to to recreation centre in town. We meet at the board room every other week.

                                     Stitching Sisters 1986

Front row Trish, Kerry, Janet, Vi, and Freda
Second row Ida, Sarah, Sarah's Dorothy, Marjorie, and Jayne

We have formed great friendships we have been through good times and bad times. We always come together in a crisis. We have learned to treat each other as true sisters.

Merry Christmas everyone!

My Home Town!

Hi everyone, this time of year always takes me back to my home town, Magog, Quebec, Canada. My DH and I have been in Ontario for almost thirty years and we love living here. But Christmas time always makes us homesick. It would be so nice just one year to go back at at Christmas and be able to visit with relatives and to see all our very good friends that we have still living there, especially Brenda and Richard and Gerry and Lorraine. Maybe one day when DH and I are both retired we put that on our to do list. Working in retail I have never been able to have time off at Christmas. Magog is a small town it is a tourist town with lots of skiing and skidooing in the winter time and in the summer golfing, swimming, and horseback riding. For now I will enjoy my memories and hopefully in the spring I can go back hopefully taking my son-in-law Steven and my grandaughter Maddison. They have never been and it is time for them to make the trip.

 Mount Orford
 Lake Memphremagog
A covered bridge in Fitch Bay, DH and I have our initials carved inside.
When I was a teenager I road a horse through this bridge. We had a trail ride around
                                                                           the lake.
What a fun filled week that was!
A view of the lake looking towards Vermont

A map of my home turf
A view from the top of Mount Orford
St. Benoit du Lac and in the backround Jay Peak
This is St. Luke's Anglican Church where DH and I were married 38 years ago.

A view of St. Benoit du Lac and JayPeak in the fall!

Hope everyone enjoys my photos. I am too tired to stitch, so I thought I would share my home town with you. Let me know what you think?

I am back!

Hi everyone, I am finally back on line. Redecorating our computer room took  longer than expected and it is still not complete, but my grandparents roll top desk is partially together. The bottom half is supporting my computer the roll top is still on the floor. Hopefully it will get together this week end. It will depend on whether my DH works this week end or not. I work in retail so my life is pretty crazy these days too.
Can you believe I work in retail and I have only bought three presents? Am I crazy? I just can't seem to get in the mood for shopping this year. I am going to have to get myself in gear and get going soon or there are going to be some very unhappy children and grandchildren this year.

Tonight my dear grandson Benjamin has invited us to a Scout Christmas dinner. So DH and I will be off to see what goes on at a Scout dinner. Keep in mind I have two daughters so we have always been involved in Brownies and Girl Guides. I am sure Scouts will be pretty much the same.

My grandaughter Chloe is in The Air Cadets and we have a dinner coming up with her group at The Armories, that will be interesting as well. She just received her uniform and she looks very grown up in it.

I have missed everyone in my blogging community and I am so glad to be back.

Computer will be turned off

Hi everyone, hope everyone  is having a quiet and stitching Sunday. We are emptying our computer room today and getting it ready for a new coat of paint, new baseboards and my Grandparent's antique roll top desk will finally be in it's new home. It has travelled a long way from Southern Quebec to Ottawa, Ontario and now to me in Southwestern Ontario. I wonder what my Grandparents would think to know how much that desk is still loved and so many fond memories of them sitting at it working away. I wish I had a photo of them with it. But I have it in my mind and that will have to surphise.
So anyway in a couple of hours my computer will be in pieces and in another room for at least a week so be patient everyone I will be back. I may drop in from a friend's computer mid week if I get a chance. See you all soon. Have a good week.

You just wonder, sometimes

This world is a strange place, they keep talking about random acts of kindness and playing things forward..... you know I have always tried to be a good person all my life and I have always prided myself on trying to help people in many different ways. I will go the distance, I will be there in a heart beat when help is needed, but sometimes no matter how hard you try there are always certain people who always look at the neagtive side of everything and no matter how hard you try you just cannot change the way they think. And as of today I think I have finally decided I am just not going to try anymore. Anyone who wants my help can ask for it and they will have it. But if they don't ask, I will be silent.
Thanks for listening everyone, I needed to vent!

Our Dad and Grandpa and Great Grandpa

Earle P. Buzzell

In Flander's Fields the poppies grow

November 11th is the day we always gathered as a family to join in the church parade at my husbands parents church in London, Ontario at St. Stephen's Anglican to watch my Father-in-law carry the Canadian flag into the church with the bag pipes playing. It was always a very emotional and moving ceremony for us and for him I am sure. When the buglar played taps there was never a dry eye in the congregation.

Earle has been gone for over a year now and we miss him so very much but it is always a very sad day for us when November 11th arrives.  He was quite silent about his war years. There were a few stories, but not many. He was our hero in life and he will remain our hero forever. So many of our veterens have passed, may they forever rest in peace. God bless them. Thank you to everyone of them for everything that they did for us I know our family is forever gratefull.

Debbie's birthday!

November 9th is my best friend's birthday. Debbie and I have been  friends since grade 1. In fact her grandparents and mine used to go dancing together when they were young. I introduced her to her husband and they set me up on a blind date and yup I married him and we have been together for 38 years. Debbie and I have stayed best of friends for over fifty years, WOW! We have never have never had any arguements. We have differences of opinions but doesn't everyone? We absolutely love spending time together and yes we all get a little out of sorts when we are apart for very long. Saturday night they came for Deb's birthday dinner. We had a great time as usual. I wish we lived in the same city, we are an hour away. I love her very much and I hope we live to a ripe old age and that we have many more years of really good times!
Happy Birthday my very dear friend! You are the best!

From the mouth of babes!

OPINIONS

On the first day of school, a first-grader handed his teacher a note from his mother. The note read, “The opinions expressed by this child are not necessarily those of his parents.”

SAUCE

A woman was trying hard to get the tomato sauce out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone. “Mummy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She’s hitting the bottle.”

LOCKER ROOM

A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women’s locker room When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, “What’s the matter, haven't you ever seen a little boy before?”

POLICE # 1

While taking a routine vandalism report at an Infants school, I was interrupted by a little girl about 6 years old. Looking up and down at my uniform, she asked, “Are you a cop?”

“Yes,” I answered and continued writing the report. “My mother said if I ever needed help I should ask the police. Is that right?” Yes, that’s right,” I told her.”Well, then,” she said as she extended her foot toward me, “would you please tie my shoe?”

POLICE # 2

It was the end of the day when I parked my police van in front of the Station. As I gathered my equipment, my K-9 partner, Jake, was barking, and I saw a little boy staring in at me “Is that a dog you got back there?” he asked.”It sure is,” I replied. Puzzled, the boy looked at me and then towards the back of the van.

Finally he said, “what'd he do?”

ELDERLY

While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly citizens, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, “The tooth fairy will never believe this!”

DRESS-UP

A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party. When she saw her Dad donning his tuxedo, she warned, “Daddy, you shouldn't wear that suit.” “And why not, Darling?”

“You know that it always gives you a headache the next morning.”

DEATH

While walking along the footpath in front of his church, our Minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar wilt. Apparently, his 5-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton wool, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased. The Minister’s son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his father always said: “Glory be unto the Faaather, and unto the Sonnn, and into the hole he goooes.”

SCHOOL

A little girl had just finished her first week of school. “I'm just wasting my time, Mum,” she said to her mother. “I can't read, I can't write and they won't let me talk!”

Home Safe and Sound

Just a quick word this morning before I go to work. My sister-in-law and her husband have returned home safe and sound from their trip to St' Lucia. They managed to get a flight out of Barbados. They are very tired but happy to be home. They said it was an adventure, but not one they want to repeat.

Have a good day everyone. The week end is almost here.

St. Lucia vacation gone wrong!

St. Lucia vacation

Tomas arrives in St. Lucia

The aftermath of Tomas

So here is the story...........my DH sister and her husband decide to go on holiday to St' Lucia last Sunday, they had a wonderful week until this past week end when Tomas decided to visit their island retreat. His sister said the eye of the storm decided to stall just off the island and they received 10 hours of rain. St. Lucia is all mountains and the flooding was terrible. They could not leave their rooms because of all the dangers including flying glass. They were suppose to come home on Sunday. They are still there, but are hoping to get a small boat to Barbados and a flight home. The runway in St. Lucia is damaged and flights can't come out. Talk about a vacation from hell! She said the first day was kind of exciting but after a few days of not being able to go anywhere or do anything boredom settled in.
You just never know what life is going to bring you. We are just thankful they are safe and that they will be home soon.  They may want to hustle, the news says there is another hurricane headed there way. Say a prayer for them, PLEASE! I will let you know when they are home safe and sound.

What a difference a week makes!

Well everyone it has been an interesting week. I have been having a lot of problems with my legs. I went to see my specialist in Toronto and he has started me on new medication. It is one that you have to start off slow and build up over the weeks. Hopefully I will be able to tolerate it.

I also had to go for an ultrasound and yes is the answer I have gall stones and lots of them. Great, I have a feeling what my doctor is going to say. I saw him at the coffee shop today, no I did not discuss it with him. Instead we talked about his trip, he has just returned from Africa. Must be nice.

Tomorrow is the day my youngest daughter Rachel and I have decided to make cabbage rolls. We make tons of them and we freeze them. They are so wonderful to just take out in the winter time for a quick dinner.
My dear hubby has bought all the ingredients now all that is left is to put them all together and then    we get to smell them cook all afternoon.

I stitched for a while tonight, I think that will be it until Monday. Sunday is a friends birthday, we are having a surprise brunch for him and then DH and I have to get ready for Halloween, the grandchildren will be arriving and it will get a little crazy for a while.

Take care everyone, have a great Halloween!

Photos of our Maine vacation

Our 38th anniversary!

We had a great time in Maine and we even travelled to Portsmouth and Hampton Beach NH. My dear hubby and I use to spend our summer holidays in Hampton many years ago. We loved Portsmouth, so much history.
We atyed Ogunquit and York, Maine. We loved it, we really did not want to come home. I know I was meant to live by the sea. Could someone please find me a beautiful home by the sea that is not a few million dollars???? Oh well I can dream. What is life without dreams!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

S and I had a wonderful holiday. We travelled from S.W. Ontario through New York State and Mass to New Hamphshire and then to Maine to spend a few days by the ocean in York and Ogunquit. It was so beautiful. The weather was cloudy but we only had rain one day and we chose to ignore it and drove along the coast up as far as Kennebunkport. So pretty and the ocean was at its best, we had very high waves. I ate lobster, S did not. He hates fish and seafood. We had a great time.
On the way home we drove via the ABC Stitchery shop in Grantham. It was very nice but my legs were giving me grief and as I could not stand for long we only had a brief stop and then we headed for Montpelier Vt for the night only to find there were no rooms so we went on to Burlington Vt and stayed there. The next day we made the trip home a long day and a lot of traffic. We crossed the border around 9:00 p.m.
Yesterday (Saturday) we slept in and had a restful day.
Today is another story all the family is arriving here for our Thanksgiving dinner. My Mom is here and she is helping too. So nice to have such a great Mom. She is the best. Happy holidays everyone.

Well I have the cutest pair of black sissors with a lovely fob attached with my initials. Jayne you are such a sweet heart and the best of best friends. Thank you so much I just love them!
See you soon.

One more day!

This is the Lizzie Kate design I stitched for my Stitching Sister, Jayne. She and her DH went to Boston for the 4th of July this year, so I decided to stitch it for her for her 50th birthday on wednesday.
It was loads of fun to do and now if I could only get the photo to be upright, sometimes I just can't get this computer to do what I want. Sorry friends.
Would you believe I have two stitching sisters with the same birthday date one is 50 one is a tad older. Tara has three little dogs and she loves them so much I thought she might like this design, and so she did. I like it so much I may stitch it for myself, maybe after Christmas.

Today I am busy getting ready for our trip to Maine. Yes we leave tomorrow around 6:00 a.m. and with any luck we will be there by 6:00 p.m.. It is quite the drive but more than worth it. Pray for good weather, they have sure had there share of rain this week. My camera is charging and I have the binoculars in the trunk. Throw in a couple of suitcases and we are ready to hit the road. Talk to you all next week!

Jayne can you fix the first photo?
(silly girl ,,,   of course,,, I would be happy to do anything for you)
I love this and I thank you so much. Have a great holiday...
Be always in stitches

Seven more sleeps

Hi everyone,
I am getting very excited, my DH and I leave in a weeks time for the coast of Maine. We have not been in many years and we are both so excited to make the trip. We will be travelling through New York State, Vermont, New Hampshire and then to Maine. We have no plans other than to drive and to explore the back roads and to enjoy the fall foliage. The mountains are always so beautiful this time of year. We may travel north from Maine through the White Mountains and on to southern Quebec where we are both originally from and maybe surprise some friends with a visit before we return home to southwestern Ontario. Pray for good weather, it would be nasty to have rain at the ocean.
I have been working on my 4 season wreath, it is slow going but what is done is quite pretty. Stay tuned for a photo. Maybe tomorrow.
Have a good week everyone!
Two special birthdays are coming up soon, one 50 one a little older!!!!! (Stitching Sisters)

Fall is in the air

Here it is Monday again, I had a great week end, my cousin Sheila came for a visit. We had such a good time, had a few glasses of wine, had a good dinner and then a few more glasses of wine. What could be better???? We went to sleep rather early for us and slept in later on Sunday. Had a nice visit in the morning and then she was off. It is an hour drive for ger and knowing her she had a few things to do when she got home. She is a busy bee and has a lot of irons in the fire as my Grandma use to say.

My DH and I are planning a trip to Maine the first week of October, our anniversary is on the 14th and we have decided to take off. DH proposed to me in the White Mountains in New Hampshire, so we always like to go back and visit some of our favourite places. This time we are going to go all the way to the coast. We also love the ocean and it has been many years since we have been to Maine. We really have no plans on where, we will decide when we get there. Hopefully we find a place to rest our bodies when we get there.

Tonight is a quiet night, my hubby is working, he will be back around 7:00 and then he is off to bed he has an early morning (middle of the night) drive tomorrow 3:00 a.m. Yes Jayne I know for your hubby that is the norm. We will see how mine does.

Well I am off to do some stitching and watch a few of the new shows. Dancing with the Stars and maybe Lonestar. I can hardly wait for NCIS and all the CSI's.

Happy Birthday Maddison

Friday September 17th my oldest grandaughters birthday. We are so proud of her. This is her first year of high school and she was terrified at the thought of going to a new school. But all is well, she is getting into the routine and has met some new friends. It does not seem possible that she is growing up so fast. It seems like yesterday that she was a little bundle of joy in her pink sleepers with the bunny ears. She would be mortified by those photos. We celebrated her birthday last week with her Gr. Grandmother with cake and ice cream. Tomorrow I will pop over with another little gift and maybe a cupcake. She said vanilla is her favourite. How boring is that??? Oh well it is her choice. Happy birthday Maddison!

I spent the afternoon stitching  on a project for a friends birthday today. Two stitching friends have their birthdays on the same day and it's coming up soon. I think I had better hustle. I was not feeling my best today, felt a little down. I have a leg that gives me a lot og grief and today was not a good day. I am blessed with good friends that care about me and one in particular was a good listener today. Thank you so much J, I really felt like poop and you did make me laugh. The rain all day did not help my spirits either, was that a depressing day! Tomorrow is Friday so the work week is pretty much over. My cousin Sheila is coming for a weekend visit and I am so looking forward to seeing her. She only lives an hour away but sometimes our lives get in the way of our time spent together. She is a great lady and has so much to share with everyone.
Have a great week end everyone!

Summer of 2010

Labour Day is always a sad holiday for me. It means the summer is pretty much over and that means the days of sitting out on our deck and enjoying our beautiful back garden are coming to an end. It means that my lovely grandchildren will all be headed back to school. My oldest Maddison will be entering high school. Chloe is going into grade 7, Benjamin into grade 4. and my youngest Mackenzie will be in grade 1. She thinks she is very grown up, grade 1 is a very big deal for her. I hope her teacher has had a restfull summer, she is going to be busy with that little one. I always say she is small but mighty. I am going to miss those days were they just stop in for a few hours and we spend time together. But there will be sleep overs this winter I am sure. After all Mom and Dad do have to go out once in a while and then they get to party with Grandma and Grampa.
Yes the temperature has fallen here and would you believe it I had to put on a sweatshirt. Wow it has been  a while sice I have worn one of those. Steve is watching tennis and I am spending some time on the computer.
I hope everyone has a happy and safe Labour Day. Travel safe, don't take any chances. Be aware!
Happy Holiday Everyone! Take time to stitch............

Warm Weather

Well the week end is here and the weather forecast says sunny, hot weather all week end. How great is that. My DH is on a drive to Toronto as we speak, and I am now going to find my threads etc. and I am headed to the back deck to stitch, oh yes I am going to make a cup of tea too.
I am working on the latest monthly ornament, I can't remember the name but there is a snow man on it. It is quite cute. I have been very busy at work lately and I am afraid stitching has taken a back burner. I have been so tired my bed has called me and I have been going to sleep quite early. Hopefully this week will be back to normal and I will get some stitching done.
Hope everyone has a good week end, enjoy the warm weather, soon the snowfalkes will be coming!

Saturday Morning

Good morning everyone, it has been a long week. I was on holidays for three weeks and have just gone back to work. It is a shock to the system. After about an hour it is like you have never been away.

The weather has been pretty warm and humid, we had one day with no humidity but now it is back. I am looking forward to fall with it's cool temperatures and the glorious display of coloured leaves. Fall is my favourite season.

I have been stitching on my monthly Christmas ornament, I am one month behind I am on the snowman, the skater is to follow. Last night I started the border and guess what I had to rip it out and start again. That was a waste of time.

Today I am putting some beads on a poppy ornament that I plan on giving my mother-in-law tomorrow, it is part of her birthday present. She will be celebrating her 80th birthday, We are having the party in London at her daughter and son-in-law's home. We are looking forward to celebrating her big day with her. Birthdays are always a big deal in this family.

Hope everyone has a great week end, drive safely if you are travelling.

I am back home

Hello everyone, I am back from my travels. I went to Ottawa for a couple of days to pick up my grandfathers roll top desk. My Aunt had it and had asked me if I wanted it. The answer was a YES, I have so many fond memories of my cousin Sharon and I colouring and later playing office on that wonderful solid oak desk. It is a beauty. When we get my computer room all straightened out and painted and the desk set up I will post it. It may take awhile. It is going to be a big project.
When I got home from Ottawa I repacked and headed off to Sarnia to spend a few days with my Mom, the weather was very hot . We spent our time at the lake watching all the boats and freighters going up the St. Clair and into Lake Huron. It is a beautiful spot. One morning we picked up my dear Auntie who is soon to be 90 years young and set off to the family cottage to have lunch with my cousin Dean and his daughter Annie. Dean had been fishing up north and had brought back the most delicious pike, pickeral, and perch. It was a very yummy lunch. It was good to see Dean again we do not get to see each other very much even though he only lives an hour away.
I have done zero stitching this week. I hope to do some on Monday. We have company coming for the week end so DH and I will be busy entertaining.
Hope everyone has a great week end!

Off to Ottawa

My daughter Rachel and I are off to Ottawa today to pick up a roll top desk that belonged to my grandparents. It has always held very special memories for me. My aunt phoned me a few months ago and asked me if I would like to have it. Needless to say I was over joyed. So today my daughter and I are off to pick it up, she has a veicle that it will fit in. The sun is shining and it should prove to be a fun trip.
Yesterday was a great day we celebrated our friend Channing's 60th, he loved his 68 Nova. He was over joyed at all the decorations on his truck etc. and his gift. Then we went out for dinner to a Greek restaurant that was excellent, I tried moussaka for the first time it was delicious!
Well I must run I am of to the capital of our great country Canada. I will post in a few days.

pic 68 nova

Hi everyone, sorry I have not been posting on my blog, but I have been on holidays. They really cut into your time I have been keep busy taking a few day trips, spending time with my DH when he is not working and as you can see above stitching on a project for my dear friend who is turning 60 on August 2nd. He has already had one surprise. Last night I drove for 1 hour just to tape a special bumper sticker on his truck. It said Honk 2X I'm 60 and to my great happiness he drove all day with it on the truck before discovering it! How good is that. He has a few more surprises coming but I will tell you about those next week.
The 68 Nova was always his favourite car and I am hoping he will like it as much as I do. My dear friend Jayne ordered the frame and mat and put it all together for me. She is an angel! She is a graet friend. Can't wait for you all to give me your ideas on what is in the baggie????? It is a renactment but it will work! We were not near a drag strip so we had to make do with an imitation.

"Rain"

Yoday my DH and I travelled to Toronto to The Canon Theatre to see the group Rain, they recreate The Beatles. We had a wonderful time listening to some great music played by a group that if you had your eyes closed you would swear you were a young teenager in Liverpool. They were fantastic, people were dancing in the aisles and singing along because everyone knows all the words to all of Beatle's tunes. We had lunch in Toronto at a little sidewalk cafe and then travelled home along the backroads just for fun and had dinner on the way. The weather was good and we have arrived home safe and sound. A little tired but that is ok.
We are both in our pj's we will watch a little TV, I will stitch a little and then it will be time to hit the hay!
I am on holidays for three weeks so if I want to stay up late I guess I can.
Take care everyone!

An Oragnizing Day

Today DH and I are getting ready for my Creative Memories Open House. So that means getting the living room all set up with my scrapbooking material for all to see. I have decided to retire from the buisness so it is time to clear out merchandise. Let the sale begin. Friday night hopefully my scrapbooking friends will help me out.
It is really hot here and we do not want to venture out. It is 35 degrees (95 degrees in U.S.A.) plus the humidity. I love my air conditioning. Right Trina????
Well I have to ren DH is paging me to the living room. Bye for now.

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day everyone! Today is the day we Canadians celebrate living in the most beautiful country in the world. We wave our flags proudly! This year the Queen is visiting us, she is 82 years old this year and one wonders how much longer she will be able to travel so we enjoy each visit that she is able to make.
Today my DH and I are spending our time doing some gardening , having an early dinner and then he is off to work for the evening. That is when I will do some stitching. I am still working on my 1968 Nova for a special friend for his 60th birthday in August. Take care every one and enjoy the holiday and Happy July 4th to all my friends south of the border!

Holidays are over for a bit!

Well I had a good holiday, I spent time in the back garden and on our deck. I managed to do a lot of stitching and had a few stitchers in one day we had lunch and just enjoyed the day. My Mom was here for a few days and I so enjoyed her company. She is a wonderful person and I miss seeing her, she only lives two hours a way but when you work full time it seems that life gets in the way and we so not get the time we want to spend time with those who are most dear to you.
My grandaughter Maddison graduated from grade 8. It was a beautiful ceremony. All the grads looked so grown up. Wow where did that time go? Life does get scary when these beautiful boys and girls go off to High School. This grandmother has been praying a lot more lately.

                                         Maddison Graduates!

                                     Dad, Maddison and Mom
                                      A very happy trio!
On the Sunday it was my youngest grandaughters dance recital, off we went to see her show. It was very good but very warm, no air conditioning. It was very very warm. I will try to post photos later of her. I am having problems with my camera, but stay tuned.
Now I am back at work, I have 14 days and then I am on holidays again. It is great when you have been at a company over 25 years, you get lots of holidays. I just love it.
Well I will sign off for now, Happy July 1st to all my fellow Canadians! Happy July 4th to all our American friends and to our Canadian Stitching Sister who is making her way to the Charles to enjoy the Boston Pops with her DH I hope you have a great time celebrating The July 4th holiday. I am still praying for a sunny beautiful day for you! I really envy your side trip to the stitching shop in NH! Shop till you drop girl!

Holidays begin!

I have been looking foward to being off work for a week and having time to sleep in and stitch. That is the only plans I have other than going to visit my good friend for a day. DH is helping her DH paint their son's new home. The crunch is on they move in July 1st. Not much time to paint every room and sand floors. No pressure at all.
I am stitching on my 4 season wreath and I have to start on a 68 Nova for a good friends 60th birthday in August.
Today we are taking DH Mom home after a short but very enjoyable visit. Then I will have an evening of stitching.
Happy week end everyone!

Quiet Sunday afternoon

The grandaughters have just left for home with their trusty companion Copper, the blue tick coon hound. I like to call him Cash. He cost me a lot of money when he was a puppy. He was very sick when he was a puppy and the vet bill was pretty steep. So he will be Cash for me forever.
So DH and I are enjoying a quiet afternoon. Maybe some stitching and a late dinner. Pork tenderloin is on the menu for tonight.
Quiet is the key word.

The grandaughters are staying for the week end!

Well tomorrow is Friday and that means Maddison 13 and Chlloe 11, my two oldest grandaughters are booking in at our house for the week end with their dog Copper. That means we will have two dogs and two young ladies to entertain. DH and Grandpa had better get his rest in while he can. My daughter Rachel and her husband Steve are off to a cottage for the week end. They are meeting up with friends and are celebrating their anniversary. Hope the weather is good nothing worse than a cottage and rainy weather. Rachel is hoping to go seadooing for the first time. Hold on girl you could get wet!
I had a day off today. I slept in a bit. Then I decided to organize my computer room. What a challenge that was. I must say it does look better. About 2:00 I met up with my friend Jayne at our local cross stitch shop. We stitched for a couple of hours and then it was home to watch DH eat his dinner. It was weigh in night for me so I passed on dinner until later. How sad is life when you can't even eat your dinner until 9:00 at night! So depressing!!!! Oh well I did lose, not much but I was down.
Tomorrow I am back to work and woe is me I have to work on Saturday too. I don't think there will be much stitching happening this weekend. I will just have to catch up next week.
Have a good week end everyone.

I am a pretty happy person today! I left work today and I didn't even look back. I drove out of the parking lot and straight home to mix up a batch of jello shooters "Sex on the Beach" boy are they delicious we had them last year and they did not last very long. Janet brought Bailey's and served them in chocolate shooter glasses they were darned good too!
My stitching is in the precess of being packed and after dinner I will pack my clothes and then I will be ready for the drive to beautiful Lake Huron and to our beautiful resort. Twenty four ladies this year, oh happy day!
So needless to say I will not be blogging for a while but I will post photos when I return. My DH will be taking care of our dog and the house. He will enjoy being at home and spending time in the garden.
Take care everyone and have a good weekend. Just know The Stitching Sisters will be having a SUPER TIME!!!!!! We might have a bit of a head ache but that is so ok.

Eight more sleeps!

The Stitching Sisters are counting the days..... we have eight more sleeps until our retreat. Four glorious days at the lake. There will be 24 of us this year, one lady from Ottawa she is making the longest trip this year. Next year who knows maybe we will hold a challenge for the stitcher who travel's the farthest.
I am looking forward to four days of stotching, sleeping, and hopefully a few glasses of wine. And the best of things will be NO SCHEDULES!!!!! I am really tired and I need some time to just relax. The Stitcitching Sisters are the best group of ladies and we always have such a good time together. This year one of our sisters has lost a dear family member, her sister-in-law. Barb was to be on the retreat with us but she became very sick and has recently passed away. We are so sorry for you P and for your family. We also have another dear Stitching Sister who has been very ill and has so been looking forward to the retreat, she will not be able to come with us as she has just had a very serious operation and is recouperating. We will miss you so much L.  Get better soon.
At our stitching meeting last night at Henley's Landing one of our sisters said "Where have you been? Your blog has not been updated forever?" Well I have had computer problems and I have been out of the loop for a bit. But I am back and ready to rumble.
I ahve been stitching on a 4 Season wreath it is very pretty but the chart is something else. Thanks Irma, for the heads up. No wonder it took you so long to complete it.
Tonight I am not making my regular Thursday meeting I have been asked by my grandaughter to attend a graduation for her DARE program at her school. My grandchildren always come first, so I am off to the school in about an hour.
Have a great long week end everyone. In Canada we celebrate Victoria Day week end, and great news I do not have to work this Saturday so that means I have 3 days off!!!!

Spring where are you???

This is May, usuually we have warm wonderful weather but some how this year is very different. Friday night we had a terrible rain storm with very high winds, trees were down and some Ontario residents were without power. Lucky for us we kept ours. I had the week end off but the weather was so terrible on Saturday I did not go too far.
Sunday was a great day. My Mom was here visiting and we went to my oldest daughter's  for the afternoon and dinner to celebrate Mother's Day and also my son-in-law's birthday. Happy 33rd  Birthday Steve, his birthday is actually on the 12th but we were all together on Sunday so we did the cake and the birthday presents. He quite liked his new lawn mower!
I haven't done a whole lot of stitching lately, I have had other things going on. I am going to try to get back on track this week. I have my threads all ready to go on an all seasons wreath. I think that will be my next project unless a HAED comes my way. We will see what happens..............
Wow it is already May 10th. Our retreat is not very far away, yes I am counting the days!!!!!
Have a good week every one!

May is here

It is Wednesday May 5th. How great is this???? Our Stitching Sister Retreat is on May 28th. So you can bet that I am now counting the days until it is blast off time. I have 2 or 3 projects that I have lined up ready to pack. I have all the ingredients for my Sex on the Beach shooters, they were a big success last year. My cousin Sharon is bringing her Margerita maker this year, she may out shine me. That is so ok.
We have 20 ladies booked in for 3 days of stitching with some of us staying 4. That would be me. My massage is booked, last year I booked a half hour, it was so wonderful I booked an hour this year.
On Saturday I delivered  the Lizzie Kate bell pull to my wonderful cousin Sheila. She loved it, she was moved to tears and I received a huge hug.  She has suffered a lot of unhappiness in her life and it is always a happy time for me when I can bring joy to her life. Thank you Jayne again for helping me with the sewing of the final product. You are the best.

Lizzie Kate Bell pull

I have stitched this Lizzie Kate bell pull for a very special person in my life, my cousin Sheila Stevenson. Sheila has recently written a book, Hope for Survivors of Childhood Abuse. I am going to give her the bell pull tomorrow, I hope she will love it as much as I loved stitching it for her. She has chosen to come forward with a very difficult subject and I am very proud of her. I know she has helped a lot of people with her words and with her kindness.
To my friend Jayne who helped put my bell pull together with not a lot of advance warning, you are truly one in a million and I so love you. Thank you so very much. You are always there for me. I am looking forward to our time at our Brentwood Retreat in just 28 days. Who is bringing the wine?????
Have a great weekend everyone!

Evangeline

Evangeline is finished, now she just has to get stretched and framed. She is perfect I love the colours. The face is stitched over 1 thread that was a challenge, but well worth the effort. Thank you P for the magnifying glass. It was very much needed.
The Chart of Evangeline was created in memory of hurricane Katrina.

Oh Happy Day!

Well I have just received good news about our stitching retreat, a few months ago I met a lady at the Thread and Eye (cross stitching store) in London, Ontario who doesn't have any stitching friends. Well that is all about to change, she is 99% sure she is coming to our retreat!!!!! How awesome is that. To my Stitching Sisters, I can't wait for you to meet her she is a very nice lady. We have our annual stitching retreat the last week end in May and we all so look forward to it three days of nothing but stitching, laughing, massages, swimming, etc. Oh yes an the occassional glass of wine.

To up date you on my stitching. I have completed Evangeline and I have about 5 minutes left on my Lizzie Kate. I have also finished 3 of the 4 monthly Christmas ornaments. I am going to begin the fouth one tonight.

I hope all is well with everyone, we have had beautiful sunny warm weather here the last couple of days. It has been so nice to take in the rays!

By the way my favourite stitching stores are:

Wenesday Stitch Night

The Stitching Sisters always have such a good time when we gather at Henley's Landing for our Wednesday stitch night. There is something special about gathering around that large wonderful table that brings out the best of us. Last night one of our stitchers had a funnt tale about a very wet basement and their very little dog. I didn't know that little dog stories could get racey!!! So funny!!! One of our stitchers is leaving today on a cruise through Panama, a very lucky lady. She will be gone for a month. She will be coming home just in time to get ready for our retreat.
We had lots of finished products to look at last night and some getting close to being finished. Some only beginning. My Lizzie Kate project will be finished this week. That is a promise.
The weather here has been very rainy, going to start building the ark soon. Well the flowers will be happy!
I will be in touch soon. Have a good day everyone!

Jersey Boys

DH and I went to see this great show on Wednesday. It was a beautiful warm, sunny day and it made for a really nice trip to Toronto, traffic was good and the GPS took us right there. We thoroughly enjoyed the show, the music took us back to when we were dating. After the show we went to Gretsky's Bar, the food was delicious and the drinks were not bad either. We had a great time and we are ready to do it again sometime soon. We just have to decide which show to take in, there are lots of choices.
We are enjoying our Easter week end, DH is going to work in his garden, my Mom is here visiting we will probably sit out on the deck and she will crochet and I will stitch. Evangeline is finished, so I may work on a Christmas ornament. Maybe my Lizzie Kate that I am doing for a very special cousin.
Hope everyone has a nice Easter!

Well everyone, I am on holidays. I know will have more time to stitch and maybe get organized for Easter. I have not even started to decorate or get my menu together. All the family is gathering here so we should have a great time. Easter is one of my favourite holidays.
I am busy stitching on Evangeline, she is almost complete. A little more on the face and the bottom of her skirt and she is finished. Next on my list is to finish my Lizzie Kate project for one of my cousins and then I have a couple of Christmas ornaments to tackle.
My DH just bought Jersey Boy tickets, I have wanted to go for a long time. Friends of ours went and they loved it.
Tomorrow I have two of our grandchildren overnight their parents are going to a concert. I love having them, they are 7 and 5 and are quite the twosome. I have two older grandchildren 11 and 13, boy where did those years go???
I am hoping the sun will shine and it will warm up, I would like to be out on my deck! Have a good week end everyone!

Spring is in the air!

Today is my day off and it is a beautiful spring day outside. The sun is shining and hopefully the lawns will be turning green soon and all the flowers will be popping up very soon. Easter is not far away.
My Mother-in-law has been with us for a few days. We really had a good time. My hubby took her to the lake yesterday where they had lunch and enjoyed the lake and all the boats. Today he is taking her home, about an hour drive.
I am cooking for a stitching friend that is just out of hospital. When I am done I plan on doing a little stitching.
Last night all the sisters met at Henley's Landing, as we do every other Wednesday and as usual we all had a great time. Whe celebrated T's birthday with a cake. Some of us had to pass it by as we have a meeting tonight........... Damm.
Well I am going to sign off for now and go to my stitching chair and get a little done before my cooking comes out of the oven.
