Friend from Ottawa

Last night I had a pleasant surprise, a very dear friend called me from Ottawa. I had not heard from her in a while, she had her children and grandchildren home for Christmas and things have been a little busy for them. Gee I wonder why? A new grandson born on December 1st and two little girls. If she has one more grandaughter she will have the same darlings that I have. We have been friends for many years over 30 and I know we will always be the best of friends. Our husbands are good friends, we love to get together all four of us and enjoy a good bottle of wine or a not so good bottle of wine. We really don't care as long as it is wine, a good meal, and maybe a little more wine!!!!! Remember the day J came home early in the afternoon and we had already had a couple of glasses of wine? Good friends that is what life is all about I miss you M, I wish we lived closer.............
Tonight I am having a quiet night, I am going to stitch on Evangeline, she is coming along very nicely. I will try to post a photo this week. Stay tuned.

Baby it's cold outside!

Today I stayed inside all day, it was a real treat! It has been very cold here lately and I just loved not having to scrape the car and all that stuff. Tomorrow it will be back to reality.

Sarah and Rachel came with their families to help celebrate their Dad's birthday. Sarah brought lasagna and Rachel brought stuffed shells. I made the salad and the birthday cake. It was a great day.

Tonight I made time to stitch on my ornament of the month Fa La La. I am almost finished, it has been pretty easy going.

Hope everyone had a good week end!

What a week!

For most people Friday is the end of the week and the week end is here, but alas for me it is not I have to work tomorrow. We have inventory this coming Friday so I am married to my workplace until it is over.
The good news is that my habby and I are going to see good friends D & C for dinner on Saturday evening (hope I can stay awake) and on Sunday the family is gathering at our house to celebrate their father's birthday. It was on Wednesday but the week end works better for everyone to meet.
Wednesday The Stitching Sisters gathered at The Landing, it was a quiet group it had been a sad week. I think it was important that we gathered, I know for myself I really needed a couple of hus that were given to me.
Tonight is take it easy night a bath, some stitching and then early to bed, I have to be up at 5:30, I know Leroy gets up earlier than I do but he is the only one I know that does!
Have a good week end everyone.
Oh and I almost forgot, Happy Birthday ELVIS (75th)

We said goodbye

Today The Stitching Sisters gathered with outher friends to say goodbye to our dear friend Chas. It was a beautiful service and there were many happy memories and stories about a very fine gentleman who was such a good friend. Our stitching sister will miss him so much, but she is such a lucky lady in so many ways to have spent 50 plus years with this good man. I know she will be sad for a very long time, but I also know she will have cherished memories to help her in the years a head of her.

The Stitching Sisters will be there for her every step of the way. We love you T.

Today I am going to put my old clothes on and try to clean my house up from the Christmas rubble. I am not in the mood for stitching, funerals do that to me. Cleaning helps me.

Good bye Chas, I love you!

A day of stitching

Yesterday The Stitching Sisters bundled up in their winter coats, mitts, and hats and off we went to Tammy's house for a day of stitching, lots of great food and wine (I am off to the store to pick up a couple of bottles today) We were all able to catch up on the week of happenings. Some of it happy and some of it sad, but we have always found strength from being together. We learned that years ago and that is when our name came to be "The Stitching Sisters."

Today is Tammy and Martina's birthday. Happy Birthday ladies I hope you have a wonderful day!

Today Steve has taken my Mom home, hopefully the roads will be better today than yesterday. They are still calling for snow squalls and thta can be a dangerous thing.

I have been cleaning up the house from Christmas and I have a doctor's appt this afternoon. Then I have to face the dreaded scales tonight at WW. I am not looking forward to that at all.
Please pray for me.

Please keep our Stitching Sister T in your prayers, she is going to have a heavy load to bear saying good bye to her beloved C this week. They had a lot of wonderful years together and the longer you have them with you the harder it is to say goodbye.

New Year 2010

It has been a very sad start to 2010 my dearest friend T has lost her loving husband C after a long hard struggle. We are so proud of him, he made up his mind that he would spend Christmas with his family and that is what he did. Soon after he decided that the battle was winding down and he is now with the Lord, our saviour. He was a wonderful man and I will miss him forever.
T your stitching sisters are there for you, whatever you need that is what you will have. Life is a precious gift, we must make the most of every day we have. We must remember to hug our friends and family tell each other how much we love them and also be sure to thank them for all the kind things that they do for us.

Good bye C. I will love you forever!

Happy New Year everyone, thank you for all the kind things that you have done for me in 2009 and for all the good things that will come my way this coming year, 2010.

Happy New Year Everyone!

This has been one busy holiday. I have worked all week and have spent a good deal of time with my Mom who has been visiting for the holidays. I have had very little time to stitch. Last night we did all gather at Henley's Landing for an evening of stitching and and sisterhood laughs and enjoyment.
One of our dear sisters has a very sick husband and she was able to join us with her daughter-in-law for the evening it was good to have her with us. Our prayers are with them in this journey.
Tonight steve, my Mom and I had a great evening, we treated ourselves to a great meal. French onion soup, filet mignon, shrimp, baked potato and asparagus. Lots of wine of course. We had lots of laughs. Now we are in our pj's and are ready to ring in the New Year with Dick Clarke.
Happy New Year everyone!

Stitching calms the soul

Yesterday was a nice quiet day, for the most part my Mom and I sat and took it easy. My Mom is knitting a scarf for my daughter Sarah. My good friend Jayne gave her some wool and she has used it all. I took my time and spent it cross stiting Evangeline. She is starting to take shape. I will post a photo soon.
Tonight Deb and Chan, our good friends from London came for dinner, they brought their two bassets Gabby and Dorothy (she is from Kansas) How cute is that??? We had a great time as usual. We always look forward to spending time with our oldest and dearest friends.
Tomorrow I have to go to a funeral, my son-in-law's Aunt passed away suddenly. It is very sad for the family.
Tomorrow is another work day, so I had better sign off and hit the hay!

We have made it through another Christmas!

Today is going to be a kick back and take it easy day. Stitching is going to be the main stay of my day. Our Christmas was wonderful as usual. My Mom was here as were my two beautiful daughters and their families. I have two great son-in-laws and three grandaughters and one grandson. They range in ages from thirteen to five, what fun we had opening all the gifts this year. As far as we can tell only two gifts are missing in action 2 pairs of Olympic mitts. I am sure they will turn up some time.
Yesterday Steve and I went for brunch with some good friends what a good time we had. Lots of laughs and great seafood! It is always so nice to have such good friends.
Tomorrow I have to go back to work but our good friends D & C are coming for dinner so that will make for a great time.
But for today it is a take it easy day with lots of stitching and maybe a glass or two of wine!
Happy holidays everyone!

One more sleep!

One more sleep that is all we have. Yesterday was a very busy day for me. I work in a cash office/general office of a large retail store, yes there was a lot of money to count. I started at 7:00 in the morning and I finished at 6:00. I was pooped! I came home had a bowl of soup and that was it for me.
Sorry Jayne that I did not make the stitching gathering but I was in bed by 8:30. Today going to be a very busy day. I still have a few parcels to wrap, some final cooking, the trifle has to be made. It would seem that the house seems to need some final polishing before the family arrives.
My daughter Sarah and her husband are having a sad time. Aaron's Aunt suddenly suffered from an anerisum and the family had to turn off the machine yesterday. The family has gathered from all parts of the country to grieve. Her parents are quite elderly and not in good health. These things are always hard to handle but at this time of year it always seems worse.
Please keep them in your prayers.
I look forward to the New Year and another year of stitching. God bless you all and have a very Merry Christmas!
Kerry
